Eat after each workout - make sure you get proteins and carbs post workout in order to help you with muscle recovery and replenish your energy stores.

Fill up on calories too - Make sure you get enough calories; you can track your calorie intake using special devices.

Eat foods that are rich in calories such as 100g raw spinach is 25kcals. 100g raw rice is 380kcals, eat lots of pasta, mixed nuts, oats, olive oil etc

3) Body building nutrition is not complete without milk. Drinking a gallon of whole milk each day will help you gain some good fat which is necessary for body building. So, got milk?
Who said you need to use steroids in order to achieve your dream of having big strong muscles? A healthy eating habit with your workout regimen is enough to help you build muscles naturally.

Healthy Eating for Teenagers - How Can the Kids Eat Healthy?

Are the kids rarely getting any healthy meals? Are they always with their friends hanging out at cafes and fast food restaurants? Are you worried that they might not be getting enough nutrients to protect them from diseases? Well, your kids are in danger of getting sick if they won't start eating right and living healthy. Teenagers need all the energy that they can get to be able to get through all the things that they do every day. This means that they should eat and live healthy. So what is healthy eating for teenagers all about? Here's some advice on healthy eating for teenagers.

Healthy Eating for Teenagers Tip 1: Never Skip Breakfast no Matter What

Tell your kids that they have to eat breakfast always. Their morning meals should include protein and complex carbohydrates. There are breakfast recipes that they would surely enjoy. You may fry an egg with olive oil, include a few slices of lean ham and a cup of mashed potatoes. If they are in a hurry for school, you can give them a bowl of whole grain cereals with a glass of skimmed milk. It is important for the kids to have breakfast because without it, they won't have the energy for the rest of the day.

Healthy Eating for Teenagers Tip 2: Store Healthy Snacks at Home

The kids will definitely be hungry by the time they get home from school. Since they are that hungry, they will eat whatever they see on the shelf or in the fridge. So make sure that you have a lot of healthy snacks at home. You can store yogurt that are packed in snack sizes or some whole wheat bars. It will even be better if you can make homemade snacks for them. You can make fruit salad or healthy sandwiches. They will love those too!

Healthy Eating for Teenagers Tip 3: Eat dinner as a family

Make sure that you find time to eat with your kids at dinner. Eating with them will not only make them eat healthier, they will also become emotionally healthy. There are some studies that show that kids who rarely eat with their family tend to develop emotional issues and eating disorders than those who eat with their parents and family members regularly. Besides that, eating dinner together brings the whole family closer. Remember to make healthy meals for supper. Since everyone in the family is eating together, make the most out of it by preparing something delicious and nutritious.

Healthy Eating for Teenagers Tip 4: Eat in moderation

You don't want your kids to suffer from obesity do you? Well you should tell them to watch what they eat. Eating fries or burgers once in a while is fine but eating them every day is a different story. If too much of a good thing is already bad, then imagine how worse it can get if they are having too much of the bad. Make sure that you always remind them of what the healthy food choices are. Of course you can never control what they want to eat but if you remind them patiently about it, I am sure that they would follow your advice somehow.

Healthy Cooking for Kids

Eating out is one of the most favorite family activities. It improves family bonding and lets parents spend more time with their kids. But have you ever thought of healthy cooking for kids? You can still eat at the dining table and have that same bond, minus the expensive bill and unhealthy food.
Start with the basics. Avoid fried foods. Kids love fried everything. Whether it’s chicken, fries, hotdogs, or burgers- they love it. When cooking these foods, you can either decrease the oil when frying or use healthier alternatives like boiling hotdogs and removing chicken skin. Burgers and fries are to be avoided whenever possible, but if your children crave for it, give them small portions occasionally.
Sweets are one of the main culprits to why children gain weight. Moreover, chocolates and candies make your kids hyperactive. Healthy cooking for kids is not limited to the main courses. You could also make adjustments through the desserts. Replace ice cream and chocolate with fruit shakes or bowls. Blending fresh fruits or making fruit bowls are very healthy and refreshing for your kids.
Replace full cream milk with low-fat milk. Your kids won’t even taste the difference, but will have a major impact on their diet in the long run. When cooking pasta, you could also replace the regular pasta with whole-grain so that they eat healthier. Make the sauce tasty but with no meat. Pesto is one of the healthiest recipes for pasta because it only uses basil and olive oil as the main ingredients. If you must add meat, use chicken instead of pork and beef.
Homemade pizza is healthier than ordering from pizza places. It might take a lot more time to prepare but it’s worth it. Make a vegetarian pizza and let your kids enjoy it minus the oil and the unhealthy meat toppings.
Include vegetables in every meal. Whether it is during breakfast, lunch, or dinner- make sure your kid eats veggies. Try with a celery or carrot stick with different dips to encourage your kid. Mashed potatoes could also be used to replace rice. Make sure your kid still eats the right amount of carbohydrates and proteins every day. When packing your kid’s lunch, it’s all about preparation. Cut the veggie portions in different shapes (letters or numbers for the young kids) so that they enjoy eating and never realize that they’re eating vegetables.
If your kids are heavy meat-eaters, you can try the veggie burgers that are available in groceries or even come up with your own. For the picky eaters, serve food that are tasty but healthy. You can use different spices for cooking or even mix veggies with soup and add lettuce to sandwiches. These simple tips will help your kids get used to the feel of eating less meat and more fruits and veggies.
Healthy cooking for kids doesn’t mean starving your kids and depriving them of what they want to eat. You can still make eating a fun activity but more nutritional.

A healthy Recipe: great Breakfasts

It's morning. Time to get up. After getting dressed, brushing your teeth and combing your hair, your first thoughts are of the article due at work. Or the homework you didn't get concluded last night. No! You should be reasoning "I'm hungry!" What's for breakfast? Good you are on the right track since breakfasts are the most leading meals of your days. Your food tank is empty and it needs refueled. Otherwise you will be inattentive, draggy and darn hungry.

Breakfast doesn't have to be a long drawn out affair. Even a quick one will work if it is planned right. A straightforward one is that English Muffin tucked away in the back of the cabinet, split then toasted, buttered and topped with cheese if you are for real in a hurry. If you have a little more time, add a scrambled or fried egg (in a non-stick pan minus the butter or oil) and voila! A glass of milk or juice and you are out the door. Yes, this can be transported as well.

Breakfast Pizza

Even a slice of toast with peanut butter (and jelly?) and a glass of milk will suffice for an additional one quick 'recipe' for breakfast. Hot oatmeal with fruit on top or a small spoonful of raisins and cinnamon is yummy. If you don't like oatmeal, how about cream of wheat with brown sugar and milk and a blueberry muffin. Add fruit juice and your good to go.

A healthy Recipe: great Breakfasts

If you have ample time, like on the week end, a more leisurely morning meal of maybe waffles, whipped cream (low fat) and strawberries would be good, with a serving of Canadian Bacon or sausage on the side and possibly scrambled eggs. Or applesauce pancakes with maple syrup, fried egg (in no-stick pan) and skim milk. Yum. Tasty but salutary too.

Those breakfasts that we have discussed so far have been pretty traditional, some even quick and easy. For a few more non-traditional morning meal meals, continue reading. Omelets filled with a collection of vegetables such as mushrooms, green and red peppers, minced onion and cheese are among the not so base foods for breakfast. Add a toasted bread of your choosing, juice and milk and you're a happy camper.

Perhaps you had a little get-together last night. There's a little pizza left over, so don't believe those that say pizza cannot be salutary in the morning. Yes it is. Containing grains (crust), veggies (tomato sauce on the crust) plus a little meat of option and a serving of cheese (dairy). Who says pizza is not good for you. Anytime.

French toast is a tasty and easy breakfast. Mix an egg and a cup of milk with a dash of sweetener of your option and nutmeg. Dip four slices of bread fast into the blend and fry lightly in a dab of butter. Serve with jelly or syrup.

The lowest line is, breakfasts are the most leading meals of the day. Don't miss them when there are all these astonishing ways to get ready them, fast or at a more leisurely pace.

7 Easy Breakfast Recipes - Healthy Breakfast in Less Than 5 Minutes

A healthy breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but many of us skip it because of time constraints. Well, now there's no more excuses!

There are several easy breakfast recipes that you can throw together in less time than it takes you to find your keys.

Breakfast Pizza

Did you know that numerous studies have found that people who eat breakfast are often slimmer than those who don't? One of the main reasons is this: When you sleep, you're obviously not eating for about 8 hours (unless you have some serious sleepwalking cravings). Your body is in a fasted state, so everything slows down. But, the sooner you eat upon waking, the sooner your metabolism is kicked back into gear for the day.

However, if you skip breakfast, then your metabolism is at a near standstill for all the hours you were asleep, plus the additional hours before your first meal. This is exactly the time when fat settles in and unpacks its bags (and rolls).

And to those who already eat breakfast everyday and are patting themselves on the back, you're not out of the woods yet! Even the most devoted breakfast eater has room for improvement, because a healthy breakfast is the key to weight loss, improved health, and prolonged energy.

Sure, Pop Tarts and bagels will get your metabolism going, but they certainly aren't the healthiest choices. You need a bigger breakfast (around 500 calories) with at least 20 grams of protein to get your body started the right way and keep you satisfied for longer.

OK, this is all getting a bit complicated now, right? How could you possibly have time to make a 500 calorie breakfast with enough protein, vitamins, and minerals to actually do some good?

7 Easy Breakfast Recipes: Healthy Breakfast in Less Than 5 Minutes

If any of these make your mouth water, just follow the easy instructions on how to whip them up before your windshield is defrosted:

Blueberry Smoothie With Toasted-Cheese Sandwich Prep time: 4 minutes 2 slices whole-wheat bread 1/2 c Kashi Go Lean Crunch! cereal 1 c fat-free milk 1 c frozen blueberries 1 1-oz slice Cheddar cheese Pop the bread into the toaster. Dump the cereal, milk, and berries into a blender and liquefy. Stick a slice of Cheddar between the warm slices of toast and nuke the sandwich in a microwave for 15 seconds. It tastes grilled -- but isn't. Benefits: "The cheese and milk in this meal are essential for building and maintaining new muscle," says Christine Rosenbloom, Ph.D., R.D., a professor of nutrition at Georgia State University. "The whole grains in the bread and cereal will help lower cholesterol, and the minerals in the milk and cheese will help keep blood-pressure levels down." Per meal: 509 calories, 26 grams (g) protein, 75 g carbohydrates, 14 g total fat, 12 g fiber Grab-and-Go Breakfast Prep time: 1 minute 1 medium apple 1/2 pint fat-free milk 1 bran Vita muffin 1 pack Skippy Squeeze Stix peanut butter Slice the apple, grab the milk, muffin, and peanut butter, and go. Squeeze the peanut butter out of its pack onto your apple slices as you eat. Benefits: Vita muffins (vitalicious.com) contain 100 percent of your recommended intake of several important nutrients, including vitamins A, B6, B12, C, D, and E. Foods high in monounsaturated fats -- like peanut butter -- may boost testosterone levels. This meal should help you burn energy more efficiently and lift more weight at the gym. Per meal: 506 calories, 20 g protein, 87 g carbohydrates, 12 g total fat, 15 g fiber Minute Omelette with Toast Prep time: 2 minutes 1 egg 3/4 c frozen spinach, thawed 1 slice Canadian bacon, diced 2 slices whole-wheat bread 1 Tbsp almond butter 1 c Welch's grape juice Stir together the egg, spinach, and Canadian bacon and pour onto a plate coated with nonstick spray. Microwave for 1 minute or until the egg is fully cooked. Toast the bread and eat it with the almond butter. Chase everything with grape juice. Benefits: Monounsaturated fat in the almond spread will help prevent spikes and drops in blood sugar, which can leave you feeling tired or crabby. Grape juice gives you an antioxidant, called resveratrol, that not only helps lower LDL (bad) cholesterol levels but also helps improve bloodflow to the heart. Per meal: 540 calories, 25 g protein, 73 g carbohydrates, 19 g total fat, 8 g fiber Two PB-and-Banana Wraps With Milk Prep time: 2 minutes 2 Tbsp peanut butter 2 Eggo Special K waffles 1 medium banana 1/2 pint fat-free chocolate milk Spread a tablespoon of peanut butter over each (briefly microwaved) waffle. Divide the banana between them and roll each to make wraps. Wash down with chocolate milk. Benefits: Eggo's Special K waffles supply complex carbohydrates, which break down slowly in the body and stimulate the production of serotonin, a calming brain chemical. The banana is packed with potassium -- a heart protector. Per meal: 570 calories, 23 g protein, 90 g carbohydrates, 16 g total fat, 7 g fiber The Santa Fe Burrito Prep time: 4 minutes 2 eggs 1 c Santa Fe frozen mixed vegetables (black beans, peppers, and corn) 1 flour tortilla 1/2 c low-fat shredded Cheddar cheese 1/4 c salsa Mix the eggs and vegetables and spread the mixture on a plate coated with nonstick spray. Cook in the microwave for 1 minute, stir with a fork, and microwave again until the eggs are cooked and the vegetables warm. Pile onto a flour tortilla, top with shredded Cheddar cheese and salsa, fold, and eat. Benefits: "Without protein, guys can lose muscle mass quickly," says William J. Evans, Ph.D., a professor of geriatrics, physiology, and nutrition at the University of Arkansas. This meal is packed with it. Per meal: 530 calories, 36 g protein, 53 g carbohydrates, 18 g total fat, 6 g fiber Black-Cherry Smoothie and Peanut-Butter Oatmeal Prep time: 4 minutes 1 c R.W. Knudsen black-cherry juice 1 c frozen strawberries 1 c frozen unsweetened cherries 2 Tbsp protein powder 2/3 c oatmeal 1 Tbsp peanut butter 1/2 c fat-free milk Blend the cherry juice, frozen fruit, and protein powder until smooth. Microwave the oatmeal according to the directions on the package. Stir in the peanut butter and milk. Benefits: Men who ate at least one serving of whole-grain cereal (like oatmeal) a day had the lowest risk of dying of any cause, including heart disease, according to a 5-year study of 86,000 doctors. Cherries and strawberries are natural sources of salicylates -- the active ingredient in aspirin -- making them ideal for relieving stress-induced morning headaches. Per meal: 600 calories, 27 g protein, 100 g carbohydrates, 11 g total fat, 10 g fiber Almond-Butter-and-Raisin Sandwich With Smoothie Prep time: 1 minute 2 Tbsp almond butter 2 Eggo Special K waffles 1 Tbsp raisins 1 Stonyfield Farm smoothie Spread the almond butter on the waffles. Sprinkle the raisins over one waffle and top with the other. Wash down with the smoothie. Benefits: Whole-grain waffles help lower cholesterol and blood pressure, and improve your body's processing of insulin and glucose, a benefit that can reduce your risk of becoming diabetic. Per meal: 600 calories, 21 g protein, 86 g carbohydrates, 22 g total fat, 7 g fiber

Of course, you can combine parts of these, opting certain ingredients in and out. Just make sure you are staying close to the same macronutrient breakdown in terms of protein, carbs, vitamins, and minerals.

Heart Healthy Pizza Recipe That Actually Reduces Cholesterol

Everybody loves Pizza worldwide right? The delicious savory smell of the cheese and the tomatoes and all the other toppings and herbs. If you're not already heading off towards the direction of the refrigerator, stick around and listen up for a moment. The problem is that most Pizzas have a relatively high saturated fat content - and that's bad news if you are trying to look after your heart health, or you are battling against high blood LDL Cholesterol levels.

The British Heart Foundation recommends a total daily fat intake of 95 grams for men and 70 grams for women. If you eat a half of a typical stuffed crust 14 inch pepperoni Pizza you will consume approximately 75 grams of fat. So you could regularly way exceed your daily fat limit with the additional dietary fat intake from other foods during the rest of the day. If you have been told to avoid cheese you may despair as you suffer that craving for your favourite food - Pizza!

Breakfast Pizza

What if there was a type of Pizza that was not only friendly to your heart health, but actually REDUCED your Cholesterol level, the more you ate (within reason). Sounds too good to be true? Well the good news for pizza lovers everywhere is that it is now possible. Unbelievable - a heart healthy Pizza packed with healthy ingredients that is kind to your heart and health.

A new type of Cholesterol lowering cheese.

The breakthrough came with the introduction of a new type of cheese, which has all the flavour of a mature cheddar, but can be used as a topping for Pizza or Lasagna. In the United Kingdom this product is known as miniCol. This is a healthy alternative to 'normal' cheese and is perfectly safe to eat or cook with, for people with concerns about cholesterol levels.

The difference between traditional cheddar and miniCol is that miniCol is made from milk, which has had virtually all of its dairy fat removed and replaced with wheatgerm oil, which is high in polyunsaturated fat and plant sterols. Most plants contain Sterols which are natural substances found as component parts of certain vegetable oils. Plant sterols are effective in lowering cholesterol by blocking the absorption of cholesterol from the diet, and also by stopping the re-absorption of cholesterol produced by the liver. Studies have shown that miniCol is proven to be capable of reducing blood cholesterol levels.

You can find out motre information about miniCol here: http://www.emmi-minicol.ch/news/

Pizza Margherita Recipe (enhanced)

This recipe is for a basic 14 inch Pizza Margherita, but you can easily add further healthy toppings such as tuna, chicken or extra lean beef (raw meat to be marinated and precooked). Because you make it yourself you know and control what goes into it. The manufacturers recommended daily amount of miniCol Cheese is 65 grams per person, so the recipe contains 130 grams - enough for 2 servings.

You have two choices for the base - you can either make your own using one of the excellent home bread making machines now available, or buy a pre-made pizza base from the grocery store.

Pizza Ingredients

Dough (enough for 2 Pizzas)

Water - 1 cup Strong Bread Making Flour - 3 Cups Dried Milk Powder - 2 Tablespoons Sugar - 2 Teaspoons Low Sodium Salt Substitute - 1 Teaspoon Yeast - 2 ½ Teaspoons

All you need to do to make the dough is to throw all these ingredients into the breadmaker and hit the 'pizza dough' button. An hour or so later you will have a ball of dough ready to roll into a pizza base.

Rest of Pizza

Tomato Paste Tube 4 cloves of garlic - finely chopped 1 Teaspoon of Ground Black Pepper Mixed Herbs - 2 Tablespoons 1 Onion - chopped 2 tomatoes- sliced 1 onion - sliced 1 Green Capsicum - sliced Olive Oil 130 grams of 'miniCol' cheese - grated
Assembling and cooking the Pizza

Cut the dough ball into 2 halves. You can freeze one half for another time. Spread some flour onto the worktop and coat the dough Use a rolling pin and roll out the dough to the size of the Pizza cooking tray Spread a small amount of Olive Oil onto the pizza baking tray and rub around with some kitchen towel (this will stop the base from sticking) Place the pizza base onto the baking tray Spread Tomato paste from the tube evenly around the pizza base Sprinkle the freshly chopped garlic evenly into the tomato paste Assemble the tomato, onion and capsicum slices evenly around the pizza base Sprinkle the black pepper over the ingredients Spread the grated cheese over the top of the ingredients Sprinkle the mixed herbs onto the top of the cheese - done

The completed Pizza should be baked in the oven at 200 degrees for approx. 10 minutes and served with fresh salad and a glass of red wine.

Delicious, Healthy Mexican Pesto Pizza Recipe

Let's face it, pizza is delicious and most likely a weakness of practically everyone. Even though we all love pizza, we also know that it is not the healthiest food for us. Just think about it, the excessive grease and the high fat content. It's frightening to say the least. Here is a recipe for a healthy alternative to the typical pizza shop slice. This recipe uses various nutritious foods including chia seeds. Chia seeds are a delicious superfood. Their use dates as far back as the Mayan, Aztec, and Incan times where they were a staple of the diet. They are high in antioxidants and omega 3's,6's, and 9's - all necessary to your daily diet. This one ingredient will add great nutritional benefit.

Mexican Pesto Pizza
Pesto:
2 Tbps. Navitas Naturals Hemp Seeds
1/4 Cup Pumpkin seeds
1/2 Cup Cilantro, tightly packed
2/3 Cup Baby spinach, tightly packed
1 Clove garlic
1/2 Jalepeno pepper, deseeded
1/3 Cup Hemp oil (or olive oil)
2 Tbsp. Lime juice
1/2 tsp. Sea salt

Breakfast Pizza

Crust:
1 Tbsp. + 2 Tbsp. Navitas Naturals Chia Seeds, divided
1/3 Cup Rice milk
1 Cup Brown rice powder
1/4 Cup Mashed black beans
1 tsp. Baking powder
1/4 tsp. Sea salt
1/4 tsp. Garlic powder

Toppings:
1-2 Medium heirloom tomatoes (sliced thin lengthwise)
1/4 Cup Chopped cilantro

Directions:
Crust- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. Combine all of the ingredients for the crust in a large mixing bowl, setting aside the 2 Tbsp. of Chia seeds. Gather the dough into a ball and knead it for one minute. After kneading the dough let it stand for ten minutes. Sprinkle a non-stick baking sheet with the 2 Tbsp. of Chia seeds that you had set aside. Roll the dough out upon the chia seed into a 9x13 inch rectangle or similar shape. Upon the completion of rolling out the crust, bake it for ten minutes in the preheated oven.

Pesto Sauce- Combine all of the dry ingredients in a blender or food processor. Pulse the ingredients until they are finely chopped. Once the ingredients are finely chopping, slowly add the oil and process the mixture until it is fully blended together.

Assemble- Once the crust has finished baking, spread the pesto onto the crust. Top with the thinly cut tomatoes. Bake the pizza for 15 minutes. After you remove the pizza from the oven, sprinkle it with cilantro and let it stand for 2 minutes. After the pizza has cooled, cut it up using a sharp knife or a pizza cutter and serve. The recipe serves approximately 4 to 6 people.

Enjoy this nutritious pizza and fulfill your pizza craving all in one!

Thaw the frozen spinach, squeeze the liquid from it and then chop it up to include on your pizza, set aside until needed.

Cook the bacon using the manner you prefer the best and then cut the cooked bacon into bite size pieces of about an inch in length. Set aside until needed.

Rinse and peel the tomatoes and then slice them thinly to arrange on your pizza, set aside until needed.
Prepare a pizza pan or baking sheet by lightly coating it with cooking spray. Set aside until needed.
Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.

Press the pizza dough onto the prepared pizza pan or baking sheet. Form a ridge around the edges by gently pinching up the dough around the rim of the pizza.

Spread the Alfredo sauce evenly over the pizza dough while leaving about a half inch as a border.

Sprinkle on the shredded mozzarella cheese and then top with the chopped spinach, thinly sliced tomatoes and the cut pieces of bacon. Add some more of the shredded cheese evenly over the fillings by sprinkling the cheese.

Place in the preheated oven to bake for about 15 to 20 minutes or until the pizza ingredients are thoroughly heated, while melting the cheese.

Bob Evans' Healthy Breakfast Choices for Seniors

Eating out for breakfast is tricky if you're watching fat grams and calories. Taking time to check out a restaurant's choices makes good sense and allows you to have fun with friends and still eat sensibly.

Bob Evans Restaurants, for example, are widely known for having a warm atmosphere, kind hospitality and for high-quality food. Ordering breakfast there, however can derail a healthy diet. Go in knowing that breakfast items (on any restaurant menu) are likely to be high in sodium if you eat out. Try to choose the items with the least amount of sodium when possible.

Breakfast Pizza

A good item at Bob Evans is their Western Omelet made with "egg lites" and delivered to your table at only 310 calories, 14 grams of fat but still with a whopping 1,453 mg of sodium. This omelet made with regular eggs adds 177 calories and 18 g fat. Contrast that with their yummy Border Scramble at 677 calories, 33 grams of fat and 1,716 mg of sodium. Call the Border Police because when the filler is made with egg whites, the burrito has more calories than two Egg McMuffins and as much saturated fat as 13 strips of bacon. Avoid it!

Here's a hint, however. If you order a la carte, you can fare pretty well. An order of smoked ham (99 calories) and two scrambled eggs (168 calories) would make a good breakfast - don't do the toast, butter and jelly side, however. Or choose a bowl of oatmeal (167 calories) and the strawberry banana parfait (151 calories) and you'll have your table mates wishing they'd chosen more carefully themselves.

If you

Be careful eating out. Choose wisely and you can have your fun and eat out too!
