Fruit Pizza - Not Just For Kids

Fruit pizza has taken the route of traditional pizzas. They are not traditional anymore. Still delicious, the fruits and fillings can be varied. Creatively align the fruits for an incredible pattern, or randomly place them around the top of the pizza.

For an extra special occasion, fruit pizza can be made on cookie dough, using cream cheese for the sauce. Array the pizza with the celebrated person's favorite fruits. Whipped topping sprinkled with colored sugar is a wonderful way to top off the treat.

Many of us need to watch our sugar intake. Pass by the cookie dough and use crescent roll dough instead. It is less sweet than cookie dough, but healthier. Sprinkle sugar substitute on the dough and fruit to add the expected taste of dessert without the sugar rush.

Fruit Pizza Tortilla

There are many recipes for fruit pizza. If time is short, and you want to have a special dessert, try this quick and easy fifteen minute recipe.

What You Need:

One 8 inch flour tortilla 2 tablespoons soft cream cheese 1 tablespoon melted butter or margarine 1/2 teaspoon sugar 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon 1/2 cup mixed fresh fruit, such as bananas, strawberries, kiwi, and grapes. Chop the fruit so it is easy to eat.

How To Make:

Heat the oven to 350 degrees F. Put the tortilla on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake until crisp, about 10 minutes.

While the tortilla is baking, mix the cinnamon and sugar in a small bowl.

Remove the tortilla from the oven, putting it on a cutting board. Spread the cream cheese over the surface of the tortilla. The heat from the tortilla makes this step easy. Sprinkle the cinnamon and sugar over the cream cheese, and arrange the fruit on top. Cut into quarters and serve.
