1 basic Pizza Dough Some Cornmeal, Semolina or Flour for easy handling of the Dough 1/2 cup Bbq Sauce 2 tablespoons shredded Smoked Gouda Cheese 2 cups shredded Mozzarella Cheese 1/2 cup Red Onion Pieces - sliced into 1/8 inch pieces 2 tablespoons chopped fresh Cilantro
Directions

Preheat the Oven to 500 Degrees (see second note below)

Cook the Chicken:

Fry the Chicken in the Olive Oil over medium heat until just cooked - about 5 to 6 minutes. Do not overcook. Set in refrigerator until chilled. Add the two tablespoons of Bbq sauce and toss to coat. Set aside.
Assemble the Pizza:

Using a large spoon, spread Bbq Sauce evenly over the prepared dough. Sprinkle Smoked Gouda over the Sauce. Cover with 1 1/2 cups Mozzarella. Distribute Chicken pieces over cheese. Sprinkle onion pieces over top.
Bake the Pizza:

Place the Pizza in the Preheated oven and bake until the town is bubbly - about 8 to 10 minutes. Remove pizza and sprinkle with Cilantro. Slice and Enjoy.

Note: The amounts listed above will make a Large pizza (up to 18 inches.) If you crusts, oven or appetites are smaller, either halve the ingredients or make two pizzas using half the ingredients on each.

If you can find this type of yeast I would recommend experimenting and adjusting according to your taste buds. Nothing can turn the flavor of your dough more than yeast. You can also hunt online for pizza starters. It's astonishing to me how much you can modify the flavor in any type of bread with yeast.

The other ingredients do not literally ensue the taste all that much. Salt, sugar, oil and water pretty much are the same anywhere. There are some experts out there that will argue water is the secret ingredient. Most New York style pizzerias swear it's the water. I would argue more so flour and yeast and how long you let the dough set. There are lots of other substitutes for salt and sugar that I have seen. Some folks use sea salt or honey but I have not found a noticeable difference.

In a bowl you want to consolidate 2 1/2 cups of flour, a tablespoon of sugar, a teaspoon of salt. Depending on what kind of yeast you use you could also add the yeast with the other dry ingredients. While the dough was kneading in the machine, grab a small bowl and drop about a teaspoon of oil into the bowl rubbing it all around. Add a minute oil to your hands and turn the mixer off. You will know when the dough is done kneading when the mixer is keen it around in one solid clump. The dough should be slightly sticky, not too wet and not too dry. You may have to add a minute flour or a consolidate drops of water to get things right.

I like to take the dough out of the mixer and halt kneading by hand. I finally get the dough in the shape of a ball and put it in my bowl. Place a piece of Saran wrap tightly around the bowl and put it in the fridge for at least four hours. I usually like mine to sit overnight.

Also add a can of chunk chicken and pre made barbecue pork. Add two cans of tomato sauce and two cans of chopped tomatoes and simmer gradually over an open fire for a filling stew. If you went fishing and were lucky enough to make a catch, fry it for dinner. After cleaning the fish, cut it into fillets. join one can of beer with two eggs until wholly mixed. To that add twelve ounces of flour, two teaspoons of baking powder and salt and pepper to taste. Dip the fish in cornstarch then the batter. Place it in hot oil and fry until the batter puffs. This is a great way to enjoy the efforts put forth after a day of fishing.

Trail Snacks

No camping trip is perfect without snacks to prepare and bring while you are out on a nature hike. Walking and hiking is hard work so you should bring some foods that will help boost your energy. Popcorn popped over an open flame is a fun way to prepare the next day's snack. Trail mix is a former selection and is slight to only your imagination. Use a blend of hearty ingredients with sweets. join granola, raisins, chocolate chips, M & M's, cereal, dried fruits and nuts. Use whatever combinations you like.

My beloved camping meals though, are made with pudgie pie makers (also called pie irons). They are made of cast iron or metal and have long handles. Our family uses pudgie pie makers to meal yummy treats for lunch and dinner. Bread is the staple ingredient in production a pudgie pie. My beloved is grilled cheese. To make one, butter two slices of bread. Place the buttered side down in the pudgie pie maker. This will prevent the bread from sticking. Place a cheese slice on top of each slice of bread. Close the pudgie pie maker. Place in the coals of your campfire. It will only take a few minutes for the pie to cook. Turn the pie maker after about a minute. Watch your sandwich closely. Depending on how hot your fire is, the sandwich will cook very quickly. Ham and tomato are also very good additions to your cheese sandwich.

Pizza pudgie pies are beloved with our family too. Again, butter two slices of bread and place the buttered side down in the pudgie pie maker. Add your beloved pizza toppings (ours are canned pizza sauce, pepperoni, and mozzarella cheese). Close the pudgie pie maker and place in the coals of your campfire to cook. Be truthful when removing pudgie pies from your pudgie pie maker. Both the pudgie pie maker and your sandwich will be very hot.

Another beloved type of pudgie pie that our family enjoys are sweetmeat ones. Butter your two slices of bread and place the buttered sides down in the pudgie pie maker. Spoon in some of your beloved prepared pie filling (cherry or apple are our favorites). Cook in the fire and enjoy.

And of course, no camping trip is perfect without production smores. They're also very easy to make. Start by roasting a marshmallow over your fire. Once your marshmallow is warm and gooey, stick it on top of a graham cracker and a piece of a chocolate bar, and then top with another graham cracker.

Cooking while camping can honestly be a lot of fun. preparation foods should be easy and wish slight clean up and use few pots and pans. At the end of the night, though, no camping trip would be perfect without toasting marshmallows. Cut some branches and skewer large marshmallows. Papa's Pizza

This recipe takes about 2 hours from start to finish:

2 Sheet Pizzas
7-1/2 cups bread or all-purpose flour
4 tablespoons sugar
3 teaspoons salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
2 packages of fast-acting dry yeast
2 cup water
5/8 cup buttermilk
3/8 cup extra virgin olive oil

Breakfast Pizza

Instructions:

1. Place the first 5 ingredients in the KitchenAide pot, except 1-1/2 cups of the flour, and attach the flat blade. Turn the mixer on to speed 1 to blend the ingredients and let it run for 1 minute.

2. Put the liquid ingredients in a small bowl and heat to 125-130 degrees in the microwave (about 2 minutes).

3. Turn the mixer on to 1, and moderately add the liquid, then turn it on 2 and mix for about 2 minutes or until well blended.

4. Attach the dough hook to the machine and need the dough set on 3 for 7 minutes, moderately adding the rest of the flour right away.

5. Cover with plastic wrap and allow the dough to rise in a warm place (about 100-110 degrees) for 25 minutes, or until doubled in size.

6. Punch the dough down, replace the plastic wrap cover and let it rise for someone else 25 minutes.

7. Place the dough on a flat surface to divide into two 2 inch rounds. Put one round back into the pot and cover while shaping the other round to fit the olive-oiled baking pan.

8. Brush top of the dough with olive oil, cover with plastic wrap, and allow the dough to rise in a warm place for colse to 10 minutes or slightly risen.

Turn the oven on to 350 degrees to preheat.

9. Remove the plastic wrap and bake on the lowest rack for 16 minutes or until just browned. Turn the pizza bread once while baking for even browning. While the pizza is browning, shape and put in order the second round for rising and baking.

The pizza bread may be cooled and frozen at this point before going to the next step.

10. Cover with the pizza sauce (1-1/2 packets each), cheese, your beloved toppings, and a limited more cheeses, and then place in the oven for colse to 12 minutes or until the pizza is hot and the cheese has melted.

Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before cutting and serving.

Is Left Over Pizza Safe?

We all eat left over pizzas, ordinarily its left out and the next morning it becomes our breakfast. Leaving it out in the open for too long can be dangerous as the cheese meat and other toppings can grow some bacteria such as Staphylococcus and Salmonella. Here are some uncomplicated steps and guidelines to follow.

Pizza is safe if it is stored either in a cold or hot environment, but if stored at room temperature bacteria will strive. Temperatures that range from 40 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit are the ideal temperature for these bacteria to grow.

Breakfast Pizza

It is recommended that pizza be kept out for a maximum of two hours if it falls within the above temperatures. Even if the pizza is delivered the temperature may have dropped below the magic numbers therefore the time may be less than two hours when arrives to your house.

Therefore to keep a pizza for longer than two hours, use your oven by setting it to a temperature above 140 Fahrenheit. You may keep it in the box as at these temperatures will not burn it and your pizza will still be eatable when you remove it.

When you have complete eating and you want to store it, replacement it to a plastic container and store in the fridge. You can store it in the box but it takes up a lot of space and the pizza will dry out very fast. It will last around three to four days in the fridge and if frozen can last two months in the freezer.

The El Valle hot water springs are located just off the main road in El Valle. The facility is the only one of its kind in the area, as are their thermal waters. Open from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. from Monday-Friday, and 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. on weekends, it costs $2.00 for adults and $1.00 for children. It offers two therapeutic mud treatments, one for the face and one for the body. An attendant will some you how to use the treatments and explain its therapeutic benefits, some English is spoken. After allowing the mud to dry, it’s off to the rinsing station, where the thermal waters flow from a pipe allowing you to remove the mud. Next you will be allowed to enter the pool that offer bathers still warm, hot springs water. Soak as long as you like and on the way out don’t forget to grab a couple of containers of mud to take back with you. On your departure you may also notice a home on the right side as you are leaving the springs that has a fountain/pool in the front yard with steam rising from it, only in El Valle.





El Nispero Plant Nursery & Zoo in El Valle





Open from 7:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. 7 days a week, the zoo provides the best location in El Valle to see the endangered and famous golden frogs of Panama. The zoo contains numerous animal and plant species. There is a trail that passes through the zoo, which takes an hour or so to complete depending on your pace.





Ranas Doradas (Golden Frogs of El Valle)





There are no wild frogs in El Valle proper. To see the frogs in their natural habitat you will have to take a tour into the surrounding mountain range. Starting at the area they call "La Mesa" the hike is quite challenging as it is mostly up hill on a thin winding path and depending on your physical condition takes approximately 2-2 1/2 hours to complete each way. You should plan to dedicate one day to this hike should you decided to go.





Bird Watching in El Valle





El Valle is full of birds and rated as one of Panama's best birding areas. You can enjoy them from the valley or you may choose to take a birding hike in the Gaital Nature Preserve.





Arboles Quadrados (Square Trees of El Valle)





These particular trees have a square trunk at the base becoming round as your gaze progresses up the trunk. The trail to the tress is fairly easy to find and relatively well marked, it’s an easy few minutes hike on the trail.





Cascada El Macho (El Macho Waterfall in El Valle)





This waterfall is the largest in the region (70 meters/210 feet) and is a 15 minute walk from the town. The waterfall is open from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., 7 days a week. There are two small trails and one longer trail; all are good for photographic opportunities. There is also a lovely little natural pool deep enough for swimming at the base of the waterfall. There is a small changing area and benches at the pool area. You will be provided a walking stick with your entrance fee. It will help you maneuver the trail and suspended bridges that stay slightly wet and mossy. The smaller trails are suitable for children.

This is a ride in a gondola supported by cables through the canopy of trees. You will ride along the picturesque waterfall, El Macho for a breathtaking panoramic view of the great rainforest.





Petroglyphs (Stone Writings in El Valle)





About a 15-20 minute walk from town are the Petroglyphs, or stone writings. All of the writings can be found on one large vertical rock face and there is no mention as to what they signify.





La India Dormida (The Sleeping Indian Princess in El Valle)





You can see her from many places around town and she looks exactly like the profile of a girl sleeping, complete with eyelashes. Ask any local to point your gaze in the right direction. If you speak Spanish or you can find a local that speaks English, ask them to tell you the legend that goes with La India Dormida.

The flat floor of the crater the town sits is an easy ride for site seeing or just exploring the town. On some of the nearby mountain slopes are mountain biking trails. Bicycle rentals are available in town.

Horses can be rented by the hour with a guide available upon request. Everyone in town knows where the place where the horse are rented at the fork in the road. Just ask a local.

Last but not least, we suggest you visit the office Panama's Tourism Institute. The office is in the center of El Valle. Open from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. they have maps of the area with all the major tourist attractions clearly marked.





If this is too much back to nature for your taste then you may prefer one of the many restaurants available for your dinning pleasure.





There are street vendors, a bakery that sales the most delicious fresh items and double yolk eggs. A pizza shop or even Don Pepe there are about eight different restaurants to choose from. There is even a boutique hotel and restaurant nestled on one of the hillside slopes which was created by a well-known restaurateur. The hotel features beautiful Tuscany type architecture and it tastefully finished with beautiful lush gardens, a picturesque view across to the mountains and an outdoor spa. The restaurant was the first thing built on the property the rest was built based on the restaurant’s popularity; people drive in from Panama City just to eat there.





One of the hotels in town has a stream that runs through the center of its indoor-outdoor lobby and restaurant area. The rooms are clean well kept yet offer a rustic artesian décor. Another has a wellness and outdoor adventure focus. There are various bed and breakfasts, a world class eco resort, hostels, lodges, backpacker dormitory, and lodgings that accept pets. There is even a small gourmet coffee shop and El Valle has its own brand of organic locally grown coffee.





Suffice it to say there is something for everyone, lodgings and cuisines ranges from a world class boutique hotel to simple backpacker fare.

A breakfast or sweetmeat pizza is appetizing and easy to make. It does not matter either or not you are an experienced cook or an amateur. It does not take much time either, and leaves you with a tasty reward.

The first step is to make sure you have all the ingredients you need. You will need to buy sugar cookie mix of whatever brand you prefer. That is what makes up the pizza crust. Next, you will need to get the sauce. I commonly use cream cheese, preferably whipped, because it is easier to spread on the crust. If you are going for more of a desert pizza than a breakfast pizza, you can interchange it with cream cheese icing. Both ways are delicious. You will also need to buy fresh fruit, which will be the toppings on your pizza. I propose strawberries, blueberries, and kiwis, but any fruit will suffice.

Breakfast Pizza

The second step is to cook the crust. Depending on what kind of cookie mix you get, the establishment may vary. Betty Crocker Sugar Cookie mix requires one egg and a half cup of butter to be added to the mix. Follow the directions on holder of your cookie mix. Then spread the dough into a pizza pan. The directions should tell you either you need to grease the pan. Try to spread it evenly throughout, but don't worry if it doesn't look very high; it will rise while baking. Bake as the directions say, or until the edges are golden brown. Then take it out to cool.

The last step is putting together the pizza. While it is cooling, you can cut your fruit. Small slices are best. Once you think your crust has fully cooled, ice it with the sauce of your choice. Then take the fruit slices and place them where you want them on the pizza. You can do a ring of one type of fruit and then another, forming a pattern. Alternatively, you can just place the pieces sporadically. If you know that some of the population who will be eating the pizza like strawberries but not blueberries, or any incompatibility of liking one fruit and disliking another, you can do the pizza half and half, or make sections.

Now your pizza is finished, and ready to be enjoyed. You can bring it to a party or get together to share with friends, or just have it as a nice snack for yourself. As you can see, development a breakfast pizza is quick and easy, and by all means; of course worth the effort.

It is all the time fun to experiment with pizza toppings to create new pizza recipes. Try changing your cheese combinations; who is up for an asiago/fontina blend over beef and broccoli leftovers? Maybe add a minute cheddar, brie, or chabichou du poitou to your mozzarella topping to spice things up a bit.

Using leftovers on pizza can be a fun, fast, easy way to enjoy the customary meal a second time, not to mention that it will free up room in the fridge. A salutary Recipe: substantial Breakfasts

It's morning. Time to get up. After getting dressed, brushing your teeth and combing your hair, your first thoughts are of the description due at work. Or the homework you didn't get closed last night. No! You should be thinking "I'm hungry!" What's for breakfast? Good you are on the right track since breakfasts are the most leading meals of your days. Your food tank is empty and it needs refueled. Otherwise you will be inattentive, draggy and darn hungry.

Breakfast doesn't have to be a long drawn out affair. Even a quick one will work if it is planned right. A simple one is that English Muffin tucked away in the back of the cabinet, split then toasted, buttered and topped with cheese if you are easily in a hurry. If you have a minute more time, add a scrambled or fried egg (in a non-stick pan minus the butter or oil) and voila! A glass of milk or juice and you are out the door. Yes, this can be transported as well.

Breakfast Pizza

Even a slice of toast with peanut butter (and jelly?) and a glass of milk will suffice for an additional one quick 'recipe' for breakfast. Hot oatmeal with fruit on top or a small spoonful of raisins and cinnamon is yummy. If you don't like oatmeal, how about cream of wheat with brown sugar and milk and a blueberry muffin. Add fruit juice and your good to go.

If you have ample time, like on the week end, a more slow breakfast of maybe waffles, whipped cream (low fat) and strawberries would be good, with a serving of Canadian Bacon or sausage on the side and maybe scrambled eggs. Or applesauce pancakes with maple syrup, fried egg (in no-stick pan) and skim milk. Yum. Tasty but salutary too.

Those breakfasts that we have discussed so far have been pretty traditional, some even quick and easy. For a few more non-traditional breakfast meals, continue reading. Omelets filled with a range of vegetables such as mushrooms, green and red peppers, minced onion and cheese are among the not so coarse foods for breakfast. Add a toasted bread of your choosing, juice and milk and you're a happy camper.

Perhaps you had a minute get-together last night. There's a minute pizza left over, so don't believe those that say pizza cannot be salutary in the morning. Yes it is. Containing grains (crust), veggies (tomato sauce on the crust) plus a minute meat of choice and a serving of cheese (dairy). Who says pizza is not good for you. Anytime.

French toast is a tasty and easy breakfast. Mix an egg and a cup of milk with a dash of sweetener of your choice and nutmeg. Dip four slices of bread speedily into the blend and fry lightly in a dab of butter. Serve with jelly or syrup.

The bottom line is, breakfasts are the most leading meals of the day. Don't miss them when there are all these phenomenal ways to prepare them, speedily or at a more slow pace.

I have a confession to make. My wife and I verily love morning meal pizza. Oops, I guess I just made that confession for the both of us. I'm sure she will not mind too much though, as she has been known to invite friends over in the morning to try the product of her morning meal pizza recipe - multiple times per week.

I have since adopted her recipe, made a few minor tweaks in ingredient portions, and I have her on record as saying this is the best version of her recipe she has ever tried. I am not sure about that, but I would be remiss if I did not share this with the rest of the world!

1) Open up 1 can of crescent rolls. You will want to fully flatten these rolls, so to make a nice base for your morning meal pizza.

2) Place these flattened crescent rolls in a Dutch oven. Any size oven will do, but we use our 12-inch Dutch oven. So, if you are in the company of replicating success, you may want to go with at 12-incher.

3) Spread these items evenly on the top of the crescent rolls: 1 lb. Of drained & browned sausage, 1 1/4 cups of icy (thawed) has browns, 3 tablespoons of red bell peppers (diced), 1 cup of sharp shredded cheese, and 1 sliced green onion.

4) In a detach bowl, go ahead and mix 3 beaten eggs, 1/2 tablespoons of salt, 3 tablespoons of milk, and 1 tablespoon of black ground pepper. Once this concoction is fully mixed, pour it in even proportions over the top of your pizza.

5) Sprinkle Parmesan cheese at anything rate you choose.

6) Cover your Dutch oven and bake for 25 minutes, or until your eggs set in. Use 12-14 briquettes on the top, and 8-10 briquettes on the bottom.

Once you are finished, take your meal out of the oven and set it aside to cool for 5-10 minutes. Once you are finished, you can serve this to practically 8 people. Or, you will simply have a wholesome portion of leftovers, and those are always nice!
