Sample Menus For Nutrisystem Weight Loss Diet

Nutrisystem is a weight loss program that claims to provide results based on ideal portions food made with "good carbs," which are low on the glycemic index and do not cause a spike in blood sugar. The food is also made to have the sufficient amount of protein to be filling.

Dieters ordering from the Nutrisystem program have two choices: they can individually select 28 breakfasts, 28 lunches, 28 dinners, and 28 desserts for each month, or they can just select the pre-selected Favorites package, which includes a collection of Nutrisystem's most popular foods. Fear not: If you select the Favorites package but soon find out you are not wild about all the dishes that come with it, you may at any time switch to choosing the meals individually.

What are your options? Nutrisystem breakfast food items include maple brown sugar oatmeal, scrambled eggs with cheddar cheese, egg frittata, blueberry flavored pancake mix, berries & multigrain flakes, cranberry orange pastry, and lemon poppy seed muffins. Most of the foods are pre-made, but the eggs and pancakes come in a mix.

Lunch foods include black beans and rice, split pea soup, chocolate peanut butter bar, cheesy homestyle potatoes, chicken a la king, fudge graham bar, chicken salad, and cheese tortellini.

Dinner entrees include beef pot roast with vegetables and gravy, chicken with dumplings, flatbread pizza, beef and noodles in teriyaki sauce, cheese ravioli with basil tomato sauce, vegetable fajita, and mushroom risotto.

Desserts include cheese puffs, almond biscotti, microwaveable chocolate cake, blueberry lemon dessert bar, hot cocoa, white chocolate chunk cookie, nacho crisps, caramel popcorn, and strawberry shortcake bar. As you can tell, not all the "desserts" are actual sweets - some are just snacks that can be eaten in place of sugar desserts.

All the meals that require being warmed up are sealed in a way that they do not need to be kept frozen or refrigerated. Because of this, dieters on the Nutrisystem program can take the food with them anywhere to warm up; they can keep it in their desk drawer at work without fear of co-workers eating it or they can take it to a friend's house and keep it in their bag until meal time. It is much more portable and allows you to even take the diet on vacation with you if you so desire.

How do you know when you should be eating all of the foods? Each order comes with a NutriSystem Meal Planner. It guides you through your meals and snacks and contains a food diary in which you can indicate your servings as you eat them.

What is the Average Amount of Calories in Nutrisystem Meals? I'll Tell You

The other day, I received an email from a potential dieter who wanted to know how many calories the nutrisystem meals contained. She was a little confused because she had read that you should consume five nutrisystem meals per day. She did not see how you could eat five servings of pizza, burgers, and tacos (as the commercials claimed you could) and still lose the kind of weight that folks were claiming that they were losing. The answer to this lies in the calorie, carb, and protein content of the foods. I will discuss this in more detail in the following article.

A Look At The Calorie Content In Some Very Popular Nutrisystem Meals: So, to make this more clear, I'm going to take a closer look at some of the more popular breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, and dessert options. Please know that I've randomly chosen what I think are a good example of the category, but by no means is this an exhaustive list. These are just examples of well over 120 possible meals.

Breakfast: The blueberry pancakes contain only 154 calories and 7 grams of sugars. The egg frittata has 120 calories and an impressive twelve grams of protein. The very tasty sweetened O's cereal has only 110 calories and 5 grams of protein. In general, they try to keep the calorie content well under 150, so that by the time you add in some fresh fruit or yogurt, you are still under 200.

Lunch: The pasta and beef contains only 180 calories with only 40 of those coming from fat. The red beans and rice with sausage comes in exactly the same - at 180. The protein on this one is an impressive 8 grams. Finally, the cheese tortellini only has 10 grams of sugars and 170 calories. There are very few options here that are over 200.

Dinner: They're a little more generous here as this is your main meal. For example, the flat bread pizza has 210 calories but only 3 grams of sugars. The burger only has a surprising 90 (but keep in mind you'll still need to add condiments and a bun.) The meatloaf is probably on the higher end at about 300. Most of these options stay well under 300 total calories.

Desserts And Snacks: The company does a really nice job with these. Most diets would not dream of letting you have chocolate bars and strawberry shortcake. Yet, not only can you have these things, you won't be doing yourself any harm with them. For example, the pound cake is only 160 calories, the chocolate fudge is only 170, and the pretzels only come in at 140.

Why Calories Are Not The Only Thing That Matters On Nutrisystem: Hopefully, I've shown you some pretty impressive examples, but also very important is the fact that the company also keeps the protein content very high and the carb and sugar content really low. This is done on purpose and by design because it ensures that your body is able to easily burn fat instead of carbs.

In general though, they really do strive to keep your daily total calorie intake at around 1200 - 1300 calories per day, which is the optimal amount in which to get everything that you need and still lose weight. But, this doesn't tell the entire tale. There are also a pretty high amount of proteins and the carbs are purposely limited. You don't taste the difference and you are still able to eat comfort foods but this comes into play because you are able to get into fat burning mode more easily and rapidly as there are no excess carbs to burn through.

The Best Tasting Nutrisystem Foods

In the past, I've written about Nutrisystem and my experiences on it.  One of the most common comments that I get is "honestly, how does the Nutrisystem food taste?  Which foods are good and which foods are really bad?"  I'll answer this question in the following article.  Obviously, I can't even come close to commenting on every food, as this diet has 120 choices, but I will tell you what I believe that be standouts (both the good and the bad) and I'll include some of the new supposed "restaurant quality frozen foods" in the list.  The good news is that this diet allows you to customize your package and hand pick your food, so you won't be stuck with anything that you can't stand.

The Nutrisystem Breakfast Foods That Taste Good:  I am very partial to the muffins.  The poppy seed and the blueberry are outstanding and do not taste like diet food. Also, these are very convenient.  You don't really need to do anything to them.

There are also a lot of bars in the breakfast line up and some are tasty to me, but some aren't. The ones that I like are the chocolate chip, the cinnamon swirl, and the apple strudel.  I do not like the cranberry or the harvest nut, but I'm not a fan of dried fruit.

There are also cereals and oatmeal.  I do really like the oatmeal.  It doesn't have any weird after taste about it like I suspected.  The blueberry is my favorite. Of the dry cereals, I like the Cluster Crunch as it is sort of a mix between cheerios and honey nut clusters.

Nutrisystem Dinner Stand Outs:  There are a couple meals that I really like in the dinner category.  These are the raviolis and the pizzas. You can chose from cheese or cheese and spinach as far as ravioli goes. Both are go and there's no so much spinach in it so that it has a strong taste.  In terms of pizza, you have a few choices, the flat bread, the sour dough and the thick crust.  All is pretty decent, but I'm partial to the flat bread.  If you've going to compare these in terms of Pizza Hut (but not so greasy and lower calories of course) the flat bread is like thin and crispy, the sour dough is kind of like hand tossed and the thick crust is sort of like a pan.

I also like the vegetarian chili, the tacos (although the shell is more like a tostada) and the chicken sandwich.  In general, I steer clear of the pastas and the stroganoffs.  I don't like for my food to be all mixed together like that, but that's just how I feel about all stroganoffs,  not just Nutrisystem's.

Decent Tasting Snacks And Desserts: I'm going to admit it. The breakfasts and the snacks are my favorite part of this diet.  There is very little that is bad here.  I adore the pound cake, the almond biscotti, the candy bars, and the fudge brownie the most, but the only dessert that I really don't eat is the Blueberry lemon bar.  Again, I don't like my flavors mixed.  I would've rather had just a lemon or just a blueberry bar, but that's just me.

As far as the snacks go, you'll never mistake the cheese puffs for Cheetos, but they're really not half bad. They kind of taste like the baked Cheetos. I also like the zesty herb snack mix because it reminds me of the chex mix I often make with my kids.

The Nutrisystem Lunch: In my opinion, this is the weakness of the foods.  More of these taste bad than the other options.  There are just many soups and stroganoffs here, which we've already established that I don't like.  But, I do like the cheese tortellini, the chicken salad, and red beans and rice.  Most times, I will just order more of the dinners and go light on the lunches with my order.

How Does Nutrisystem Food Taste? Is it Really Pretty Good?

Of all of the questions that I get about the Nutrisystem diet, questions about the food and it's taste are the most common. People want to know if you really get to eat burgers and pizza. (And if so, are they decent?) They want to know if the foods have the texture of cardboard or sport any weird after tastes that are typical of diet food. And they want to know if there are enough decent options so that there will be enough foods for them to enjoy and rotate so that they don't get bored. I'll address these concerns in the following article.

The Nutrisystem Foods That Really Do Taste Good: In general, there are a decent amount of the food choices that are quite good. Some are so good that I would eat them even if I were not on a diet. Most of the foods that I consider the best fall into the breakfast, dinner, and snack / dessert categories. For example, the muffins, pancakes, scones, biscotti and oatmeal are all really nice and good tasting options for breakfast. The flat bread pizza, ravioli, macaroni and cheese, pepper steak, fajitas, and tacos are pretty decent in the dinner category. And almost any of the cookies, almost all of the cakes, and the chocolate bars (that look and taste a lot like a candy bar) are delicious enough that I would reach for them even if I were not on a weight loss plan.

Now of course, you must suspect that in order for these comfort foods to be allowed into a diet plan, they are going to have to be modified in some way. For example, the cake isn't dripping in sugary frosting and the pizza isn't loaded with a lot of greasy cheese, but I don't know very many diets (and low carbohydrate ones at that) which would even allow you to think about these options, much less allow you to eat them up to five times per day. And yes, the portions are smaller, but you get used to this and if they weren't, do you really think you'd lose as much weight as many people do?

If You Really Want The Best Tasting Nutrisystem Foods, Check Out The Nutrisystem Select Line: Nutrisystem Select is a new line that describes itself as "gourmet, fresh frozen meals." I'm not sure how they make this distinction because most of the new 39 additional meals are frozen, but they are extremely good. I've heard them described as restaurant quality and I would agree with that on many, but not all, of them. Most of the additions are in the dinner category where they'd added some yummy choices like shrimp Alfredo, steak with portabella mushrooms, bar b que beef, and panini style sandwiches. This line is a touch more expensive (around $30 more) but I suspect most folks will think that it is worth it because it does offer more elaborate and fancy choices that you will likely come to appreciate when you are eating the food five times per day.

Speaking of the frequency with which you are eating the food, there is also a Nutrisystem flex program that allows you to take two days off each week. This allows you to still diet but to also be able to take a break and eat normally and to eat out with your family if you wish for a couple of days a week. This program is also cheaper because you don't need as much food. It runs just a little over $200 and many people feel it's a good way to sort of ease into the program. Many people eventually go to the full time regular program after they see the results and come to realize that this plan really isn't as bad or as restrictive as they had feared.

What is the Difference Between Smart Ones and Nutrisystem Meals? Is One Better Than the Other?

I often receive emails which ask me to compare Nutrisystem to diet foods that you can buy in the grocery store.  One such example are the smart ones which you can get in the frozen food aisle.  In the following article, I will show you an example of a full day's worth of food and meals on both diets and will show you how the two stack up with one another.

The Nutrisystem Sample Menu For One Day: For this example, I am going to follow the diet's recommendations that you eat five times per day. I'll be including, breakfast, lunch, dinner, a snack, and a dessert.  For breakfast, I have chosen the egg frittata. For lunch, we will have the cheese tortellini.  For dinner, I have chosen the Chinese pepper steak.  We get to have pound cake for dessert and nachos for our snack.  Now, I have added up the calories, carbs, and protein from each meal.  For the entire day, we have taken in 780 calories, 82 grams of carbohydrates, and 63 grams of protein.  Now, let's look at a comparable smart ones day of meals.

The Smart Ones Sample Menu For One Day:  I tried to keep the foods that I chose to be somewhat similar for comparison's sake.  For breakfast, I chose the english muffin egg sandwich. For lunch, I've chosen the three cheese ziti. For dinner, we will have beef with Asian vegetables.  There is not a lot to chose from in terms of snacks.  Basically, there is just mini pizza, quesadillas, and calzones.  I'll chose the calzone.  For dessert, let's have the strawberry shortcake. The caloric intake is 1210.  After consuming this menu, you would have taken in 173 grams of carbs and 62 grams of protein.

Do These Differences Mean That One Of These Is Better Than The Other?:  I am not sure if you know this, but Nutrisystem is designed based on a "glycemic friendly" index.  This means that the calorie to carb to protein content is very favorable to putting your body in a metabolic state called ketosis in which your body is sort of feeding on fat stores and burning through them.  The caloric, carbohydrate, and protein ratio is very important to this process.  If the calories or sugars are too high and the protein is too low, in a sense you are sort of wasting your time and money because you are going to have a hard time getting into ketosis (if you are able to get there at all.)

Obviously, Nutrisystem was much lower in both calories and carbohydrates.  In fact, the difference is approaching almost twice as much on the part of smart ones.  This is very significant in my opinion. I doubt very much that you would be able to get into fat burning mode in this way.  And if you did, it may take much longer.  Also, frozen meals such as these are known as being very high in sodium which might be a concern for you if you worry about water retention.

Many people tell me that they are interested in the grocery store alternatives as a way of saving money. Well, prices vary depending on where you shop, but smart ones generally run from about $1.75 to around $2.75 each depending on the type of meal and portion size.  This is around $ 9 -$10 per day if you're going to be eating five times.  Nutrisystem is very comparable to this and sometimes even cheaper if you can find the right coupon or package so in my opinion, you aren't saving that much money (if any.) And, even if you are, the little bit that you are saving is probably not worth the huge differences that might just keep you from having the kind of effectiveness that you are hoping for.

Nutrisystem Diet Pros and Cons

I'm asked a lot about the pluses and minuses / pros and cons of the nutrisystem diet since I often write about this weight loss plan and how it works. In this article, I'll try to provide a balanced, unbiased review of what I think are the great and not so great things about the nutrisystem diet.

Pros: I do believe that the pros far outweigh the cons with this plan, so I will list them first.

1. It Is Very Effective. I've come to believe that if you follow and stick with the diet as planned you can not help but lose weight. I spend a lot of time in weight loss forums and find that the few folks who aren't having success are just not sticking with it or are cheating. But, I haven't found anyone who has stuck with it faithfully that didn't get results.

Nutrisystem is really a low carb diet (although you certainly don't have to eat meat all of the time.) It's low in calories and high in protein as well. This works to put your body in metabolic state where it is fooled into burning its own fat. I find that this is effective for most people.

And, results come pretty quickly which helps to motivate you to stick with it.

2. Lots Of Good Tasting Choices: Nutrisystem has over 130 food choices available and many of them are comfort foods like macaroni and cheese, fajitas, pizza, and tacos. There are also lots of desserts and snacks available. And, you never have to count points, worry about keeping track of carbs, or count calories here. All of the foods are glycemic friendly and safe. Jillian Barberie wasn't kidding when she said that she got to eat pizza and chocolate on this diet. Ok, so the pizza doesn't exactly taste like Chicago deep dish, but it's not half bad. I find that the taste and variety of this food puts it head and shoulders above many of the other diets I've tried and I'm very picky.

Convenience: Many of the foods in this diet are prepackaged and require very little preparation. Some are literally grab and go. You are asked to add veggies and proteins to your Nutrisystem meals (salad, yogurt, etc.), and you are asked to eat five times per day, but the meals are small and there isn't much prep time associated with them. It's also nice that you never have to count or tally anything. You just eat five of the plans meals per day and know that you are safe.

Cons: Now, onto what might be considered cons by some.

1. It Takes Some Getting Used To At First: Over time, I've grown to really enjoy having my meals mostly provided for me, but this was not always the case. Eating five times per day can really take some getting used to. I used to skip breakfast and eat a snack type lunch. I can't do that on Nutriystem because I have to eat regularly to keep my metabolism strong. And, if you're someone who loves to plan, cook and eat elaborate meals, you may find having your own food provided difficult. (Sure, you can get elaborate with your sides, but if you're a "foodie," this might frustrate you until you get used to it.)

2. Having To Add The Sides With Every Meal And Eating So Often: I know that I have gotten spoiled over time and I understand that I need a regular supply of fresh healthful foods to be as healthy as I possible can. But, once I got used to eating the pre provided meals, then I did not want to take the time to add the sides. I've learned that the best thing for me to do is make good use of bagged salads, frozen stir-fry, and prepackaged yogurts. I also now assemble what I can ahead of time, but it took me a while to get the hang of this.

Eating five times per day was a challenge at first, but I've learned that this is necessary to keep the metabolism revved and fully functional. Luckily, the meals are small and most are grab and go, so this helps.

3 Cost: With the price of gas and groceries so high, the cost of this plan doesn't seem altogether that bad now, but it certainly isn't free. The average price of a month's worth of Nutrisystem is about $290. This works out to be about $10 per day, which certainly isn't bad.

I was worried about the cost, but it just hadn't been an issue as being on this diet has greatly cut down the amount of money I was spending on eating out and splurging on treats. My grocery bill has come way down as well, since most of my food is provided.

Still, I understand that some people will be skeptical at having to buy food outside of their family's groceries, but I'd argue that every time you buy your lunch at work, you're doing just that anyway.

A Weekly Nutrisystem Menu Sample - 7 Examples of Breakfast, Lunch, and supper Meals

I get a lot of emails from habitancy who are request for me to paint them a picture of what life on nutrisystem is like. I've written about a typical day on this diet. I've had a few habitancy tell me that this isn't a big sufficient see of the meals to give them a full idea of what they will be eating. So, in the following article, I'm going to expand on this idea and provide an example of a week's worth of breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks and desserts. I will also give you examples of the sides that you are asked to add onto each meal.

An Example Of A Week's Worth Of Nutrisystem Breakfasts: I often say that I think that the breakfasts, snacks, and desserts are my favorite part of this diets. Even though this is a lower carb diet, you are still allowed cereals, muffins, pancakes, and scones. For this example, I've tried to mix things up a bit so that there's a lot of variety. Here are seven typical breakfasts that I chose and the sides which would work well with them. They are: the banana nut muffin with milk; the egg frittata with cantaloupe; the blueberry pancakes with yogurt; the apple cinnamon oatmeal with apple slices; the apple strudel scone with bungalow cheese; the heap crunch cereal with skim milk; and the cinnamon roll with yogurt.

Breakfast Pizza

Now, this is only seven choices. There are more. But this does give you a good sampling of the types of products that you will eat. There are separate flavors within each category. There are separate flavors of oatmeal, cereals, scones, and muffins. What I've given are examples that I enjoy.

7 Days Worth Of Nutrisystem Lunches: habitancy often expect to see a lot of soups here. And, there are some. But there are also pastas, hot dogs, bars, salads, and rice dishes. The examples that I've chosen are: the cheese tortellini and a small salad; the hot dog and celery sticks; the chicken and pasta in cacciatore sauce with carrot sticks; the chicken caesar salad with blueberries; the red beans and rice with red peppers; the minestrone soup with salad; the fettucine alfredo and cucumber slices; and finally, the chicken and noodles with watermelon.

A Weekly Sample Menu Of Nutrisystem Dinners: The dinners are a bit more stupendous and they do offer a lot of variety. I tend to like the relax food options, so if I were choosing for an entire week, I might chose: the Cajun chicken and sausage with fat and sugar free pudding; the lasagne and meat sauce with a salad; the pizza and strawberries; the beef steak with potatoes and cantaloupe; the bar b que pork wrap with celery sticks and fat free dressing; the macaroni cheese and beef with sliced tomatoes; and the mushroom risotto with sliced red peppers.

7 Tasty Snacks: You certainly can't go wrong with any of the snacks. But, here are seven of my favorites: the nachos; the pretzels; the herb snack mix; the cheese puffs; the bar b que chips; the coconut almond bar; and the chocolate rainbow desserts.

A Week's Worth Of Desserts: This isn't going to be very original, but the desserts are my favorite. I certainly can't think of one that I wouldn't eat, and I pretty much like them all. If I could only chose 7, I'd pick: the almond biscotti; the chocolate cake; the peppermint cookie patty; the nutrichocolates; the golden pound cake: the blueberry lemon sweetmeat bar; and the mint chocolate crunch bar.

All of the meals are meant to be interchangeable. And, nutrisystem does allow for you to buy foods individually, by the week, and by the month. The monthly packages regularly work out to be cheaper because you're buying in bulk and because they allow for you to use the most kind coupons with the monthly packages.

The Best Tasting Nutrisystem Foods

In the past, I've written about Nutrisystem and my experiences on it.  One of the most coarse comments that I get is "honestly, how does the Nutrisystem food taste?  Which foods are good and which foods are verily bad?"  I'll riposte this interrogate in the following article.  Obviously, I can't even come close to commenting on every food, as this diet has 120 choices, but I will tell you what I believe that be standouts (both the good and the bad) and I'll contain some of the new supposed "restaurant capability frozen foods" in the list.  The good news is that this diet allows you to customize your box and hand pick your food, so you won't be stuck with whatever that you can't stand.

The Nutrisystem morning meal Foods That Taste Good:  I am very partial to the muffins.  The poppy seed and the blueberry are superior and do not taste like diet food. Also, these are very convenient.  You don't verily need to do whatever to them.

Breakfast Pizza

There are also a lot of bars in the morning meal line up and some are tasty to me, but some aren't. The ones that I like are the chocolate chip, the cinnamon swirl, and the apple strudel.  I do not like the cranberry or the harvest nut, but I'm not a fan of dried fruit.

There are also cereals and oatmeal.  I do verily like the oatmeal.  It doesn't have any weird after taste about it like I suspected.  The blueberry is my favorite. Of the dry cereals, I like the mass Crunch as it is sort of a mix between cheerios and honey nut clusters.

Nutrisystem supper Stand Outs:  There are a merge meals that I verily like in the supper category. If you've going to correlate these in terms of Pizza Hut (but not so greasy and lower fat of course) the flat bread is like thin and crispy, the sour dough is kind of like hand tossed and the thick crust is sort of like a pan.

The breakfasts and the snacks are my popular part of this diet.  There is very slight that is bad here.  I adore the pound cake, the almond biscotti, the candy bars, and the fudge brownie the most, but the only sweetmeat that I verily don't eat is the Blueberry lemon bar.  Again, I don't like my flavors mixed.  I would've rather had just a lemon or just a blueberry bar, but that's just me.

As far as the snacks go, you'll never mistake the cheese puffs for Cheetos, but they're verily not half bad. They kind of taste like the baked Cheetos. I also like the zesty herb snack mix because it reminds me of the chex mix I often make with my kids.

The Nutrisystem Lunch: In my opinion, this is the feebleness of the foods.  More of these taste bad than the other options.  There are just many soups and stroganoffs here, which we've already established that I don't like.  But, I do like the cheese tortellini, the chicken salad, and red beans and rice.  Most times, I will just order more of the dinners and go light on the lunches with my order.

Comparing Nutrisystem To Lean Cuisine: Which Is Better?

The other day, I received an email from someone who asked if buying frozen meals like lean cuisine or smart ones at the grocery store would yield the same weight loss results as the Nutrisystem diet. She perceived that the frozen meals were cheaper, even though she suspected that they weren't going to yield as drastic results. Still, she hoped that she could get some at least some weight loss from the grocery store and asked my opinion on this. I'll tell you what I told her in the following article.

The Best Nutrisystem Foods And Meals

I recently received an email where the person asked me if I could help her decide which Nutrisystem foods to pick for her monthly package. She had decided to go for the custom menu which allowed her to hand pick which foods she wanted. This can be a great option because it doesn't cost anymore and it ensures that you're getting foods that you're going to like. But on a first order, it can be tough to pick what are the best tasting foods. So, in the following article, I'll list what are (at least in my opinion) the best foods on this menu.

The Nutrisystem Diet: Does Anyone Know If (And How) It Works?

I recently received correspondence from someone who asked me several questions about life on the nutrisystem diet. Examples of the questions asked were things like: "How exactly does nutrisystem work? Do I have to count calories and carbs? What types of foods will I get to eat? How much will I get to eat? How hungry will I be? How much willpower will I need? And, how much weight can I lose?"

I often get emails from folks who want some help in choosing what they hope with be the best nutrisystem package or plan for them. Many don't realize that this diet plan offers many options based on your gender, food preferences, health issues, and how often you want to eat the diet's meals. And, all of the choices give you a huge variety of comfort food type meals which include things like pancakes, ravioli, tacos, pizza, cookies, and cakes. In the following article, I will offer overviews of many of this diet's popular plans in the hopes that this information will help you to determine which might be the best one for you.

Is Nutrisystem Bad For You? Is This a Dangerous Diet?

I often get emails from people who are concerned about the health implications of this diet.  Many look at some of the before and after photos on the site or take a look at Jillian Barberie in her bikini and wonder if such sudden and drastic weight loss could possibly be good for you.  I've even had people go so far as to ask me if Nutrisystem is a starvation diet or if is dangerous or bad for you.  I'll go over these concerns, my responses to them, and my reasoning for my answers in the following article.

A List of Nutrisystem Flex Meals - A Sample Menu

I've been getting a lot of questions about the Nutrisystem flex meals.  There's a lot to like about this program because it allows you to take two days off each week. And, it's about 0 cheaper than the regular women's program.  But, there's some misconceptions about the food which I'll address in the following article.

The Food Really Isn't Any Different.  You're Just Getting Less Of It: There are no "special foods" for the Nutrisystem flex plan.  But, you are getting enough meals to eat five times per day for 20 days rather than for 28 days.  So, when they ship your order, less food will be in the box since you are taking eight days off per month.  But, the choices for breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and desserts remain the same. You can still chose any foods you like off the menu. You'll just be choosing for 20 days rather than for 28.  I'll go over a sampling of the foods below.

Breakfast Pizza

Sample Nutrisystem Flex Menu:  When you order any Nutrisystem package, you're given the choice to go with a sampling of the most popular items ("order favorites") or you can hand pick your own ("chose your menu")  Below are items from the order favorites.  But, the entire lot of food choices is available if you want to hand pick your foods.  There is no additional cost for this. The base price of both of these is about 4 (and that is before coupons, specials, or incentives, which usually bring this down even more.)

Breakfast Menu Sample:

apple scone

blueberry muffin

granola bar (chocolate chip is often included)

cereal (often included is granola, Nutricinnamon Squares (like Life cereal), Nutriflakes (like frosted or corn flakes), and NutriCrunch (like captain crunch but much less sweet), and

scrambled eggs (veggie and cheddar).

Sample Lunch Menu

soups (example beans and ham, minestrone, pasta with beef)

fettuccine alfredo

cheese tortellini (very good)

chicken salad

cheesy potatoes

chocolate peanut butter or fudge bar (also very good)

Dinner Sample Menu:

raviolis (spinach and meat or tomato basil (a few of my favorites)

macaroni and cheese

chili

pizza (flat bread or thick crust - both are pretty good, but I actually prefer the flat bread)

two types of lasagna (one vegetable option)

chicken Parmesan

pot roast

Dessert And Snack Choices:

dessert bars: (chocolate and peanut butter, chocolate crunch, chocolate caramel - all pretty good)

cookies (peanut butter, oatmeal raisin, macadamia nut, chocolate chip, white chocolate, almond)

pretzels

chips.

As you can see, there are some pretty good offerings here, but again, this is the popular choice package.  There are some really good choices left out here (like the tacos, the bisotti, the lemon squares, the chocolate pound cake, etc.)  Basically, in the favorites package that you giving you what most people like the best, but you aren't bound to these.  As I said before, you can hand chose your foods using "chose your menu" if you like which gives you the option to only get the foods that you like in the flavors that you prefer.

Nutrisystem Sample Menu - A Typical Day's Worth of Food on This Diet

I get a lot of emails asking me about the food offerings, taste, and variety of the Nutrisystem foods.  I understand this because when I was researching this diet, the food was what I was most interested in also.  After all, you're going to be eating this food at almost every meal (unless you go with the flex program) so it's important that you'll actually find it enjoyable or at least tolerable.  Because if you don't, it's just not going to be a positive experience that you'll want to repeat or stick with. So, in the following article, I'll list what would be a sample or typical menu for me so that you can see what a day might be like should you chose this diet.

Decent Amounts Of Variety, Decent Taste: Before I get into the actual meals, I want to take a minute to assure you that the food really is not that bad.  Most of it is not only edible, but actually pretty good. And the choices are pretty plentiful on Nutrisystem. There are over 170 foods to chose from, and much of them are comfort foods, snacks and desserts.  You really do get to eat pizza, burgers, tacos, and cake on this plan.  And while this fare doesn't exactly taste like junk food, it's decent enough and you have to appreciate being able to eat these things because not all diets would allow this.

Sample Nutrisystem Breakfast:  I think that breakfast is really composed of the best that this diet has to offer.  There are so many decent choices here.  I love the blueberry muffins and scones. The pancakes are decent too.  I don't like oatmeal as a general rule, but the diet oatmeal tastes a lot like Quaker brand, and the cereal is a nice option to have, as this is technically a low carb diet.  I suppose the only option that I steer clear of for breakfast is the eggs, but I don't like non diet eggs either.

Nutrisystem Mid Morning Snack Offerings:  The premise of this diet consists of three meals, one snack, and dessert.  I like to have my snack mid morning, but you could have it at any time.  I know a lot of people who have it at around 3 o'clock when they begin to get hungry for dinner.  I like to have the pretzels or the chips here.  You can also have some of the dessert foods as your snack, and although I will do this sometimes, I often try and stick to the salt for my snack rather than the sweet.

Nutrisystem Lunch Sample Menu: If there is a weakness of the  diet, the lunch is it, in my opinion.  There are just too many soup options and I don't like soup.  I finally wised up and learned to just order more dinners with my package.  This doesn't cost anymore and the company allows you to hand pick your foods.  However, if I did have to chose from the lunch foods, I'd go with the cheese tortellini or the fudge bar. The chicken salad isn't too bad either.

Typical Nutrisystem Dinner: The offerings become much better here.  There's a lot to like.  I find the pizza to be pretty good (I like the flat bread variety.) The macaroni and cheese and lasagna are also good.  The tacos require a little dressing up, but they can be made to be tasty.  The mushroom risotto is addictive and I would eat this even if I were not on a diet.  The texture on this is wonderful and very creamy.

Nutrisystem Dessert Choices: This too is where the diet shines.  There is not one option that I don't like in this category, but I'd have to say that my favorites are the almond biscotti and the chocolate cake. If I had to pick my least favorite, it would probably be the strawberry short cake bar as this really isn't like your traditional dessert, but this one is still pretty tasty. I just would rather they have made it an actual cake or muffin rather than a bar.

You would have the same menu if you you went with the flex plan.  The foods offered aren't any different. What's different is that you're only eating the foods five days out of the week rather than every day.  You get any two days off on the flex plan so it's the cheapest option out there.

How Does Nutrisystem Food Taste?

I am asked a lot of questions about Nutrisystem.  Some common ones are "does it really work," "how hard is it follow," and "do you really get to eat pizza and desserts," etc.  Thanks to all of the celebrities that are or have been on this plan (Jillian Barberie, Marie Osmond, Tori Spelling, etc.), it's pretty common knowledge that you can eat chocolate and tacos on it. But, what isn't stated is how tasty these offerings really are.  Without a doubt, the most common question people want to know is: "how does the Nutrisystem food really taste?"  Because even if the diet plan works great, it isn't going to matter if you can't stomach the food. In this article, I will tell you how I rate the taste (keep in mind this is only my opinion, but I'm pretty picky) and I'll tell you which foods I really don't like and avoid when I place orders.

The Nutrisystem Breakfast Foods Taste Pretty Good: Some people don't realize that this is really a low carb diet.  The foods are very high in protein.  When I found this out, I was hesitant because I love my carbs and didn't want to have to give them up.  Luckily, the breakfast carb options are plentiful, including cereals, (NutriFrosted, NutriFlakes and NutriCinnamon Squares), muffins, and oatmeals.  Yes, there are also eggs but you can avoid them if you want. Overall, thumbs up.

The Nutrisystem Desserts And Snacks Are The Best Tasting Items On The Menu: Very smartly, the company stresses it's desserts and snacks.  (This is important because you eat five times per day on this diet, so you'll eat a lot of them.)  There are over thirty options here, with many of them being milk and white chocolate.  There are also cakes (snack sized of course), biscotti, and cookies.  Yes, the portions are small and some of them aren't as sweet or filling as their full sugar or full fat adversaries, but they are totally fine.  And, when you are craving something sweet, they do the trick without the calories or the guilt.

There are also salty type snacks - chips, pretzels, etc.  Admittedly, these sometimes have the texture or a baked rather than a fried chip and are also much less greasy, but if you want something salty, they will certainly work.

The Nutrisystem Lunches And Dinners That Taste Most Decent: Since I've already covered breakfasts and snacks, I'll go over the lunch and dinner foods that I find taste the best (and are my staples which I order over and over again.) They are:

The pizza: (There is a flat bread option and a thin crust option. I like the thin a bit better. Neither is loaded with cheese or bread, but again, for diet food, it's pretty good.

The macaroni and cheese:  Again, it's not dripping with greasy cheese, but it's a nice creamy consistency (I was fearing a consistency of the sprinkle cheese that comes with my kids microwave mac and cheese, but it wasn't like that at all) and is more filling than I thought it would be.

The lasagna: OK, I'm going to admit that this was not what I was expecting. There is spinach and beans in it (in addition to a meat sauce) but it has a pleasant taste, sort of like a creamy veggie lasagna.

The chili: This is light and reminds me a bit of Wendy's chili.  It is very versatile and sometimes I use it as a topping to the nachos.

The fettuccine alfredo: This is one of my favorites.  It's very creamy, filling, and rich.  Of all of the foods, this is the one that fools me the most into thinking I'm cheating and am not on a diet.

The Nutrisystem Foods That Taste Pretty Bad: There are a few foods that I will not eat.  It is because of these foods that I always build my own package when I order (which is basically the same price anyway).  These are: the beef stew, the beef stroganoff, and the pasta with beef.  Can you tell that beef is my least favorite food?  To be fair, I doubt that I would willingly eat these foods even in every day, non dieting life.

My Overall Review Of Nutrisystem Food: Overall, I am pretty satisfied with the taste of variety of the foods offered.  After all, this is a diet and the foods aren't going to taste like haute cuisine.  However, for prepackaged diet food, I believe it's among the best that I have tried (especially the breakfasts and desserts.)  No, I don't like all of it, but luckily the plan allows you to customize your package so that you aren't stuck with foods you find bad.  I just started out with their basic package so I could sample what I liked and didn't.  And from then on, I just loaded up on my favorites and avoided the rest.

A Weekly Nutrisystem Menu Sample - 7 Examples of Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner Meals

I get a lot of emails from people who are asking for me to paint them a picture of what life on nutrisystem is like. I've written about a typical day on this diet. I've had a few people tell me that this isn't a big enough glimpse of the meals to give them a full idea of what they will be eating.

They are: the banana nut muffin with milk; the egg frittata with cantaloupe; the blueberry pancakes with yogurt; the apple cinnamon oatmeal with apple slices; the apple strudel scone with cottage cheese; the cluster crunch cereal with skim milk; and the cinnamon roll with yogurt.

Now, this is only seven choices. There are more. But this does give you a good sampling of the types of products that you will eat. There are different flavors within each category. There are different flavors of oatmeal, cereals, scones, and muffins. What I've given are examples that I enjoy.

7 Days Worth Of Nutrisystem Lunches: People often expect to see a lot of soups here.

A Weekly Sample Menu Of Nutrisystem Dinners: The dinners are a bit more substantial and they do offer a lot of variety. I tend to like the comfort food options, so if I were choosing for an entire week, I might chose: the Cajun chicken and sausage with fat and sugar free pudding; the lasagne and meat sauce with a salad; the pizza and strawberries; the beef steak with potatoes and cantaloupe; the bar b que pork wrap with celery sticks and fat free dressing; the macaroni cheese and beef with sliced tomatoes; and the mushroom risotto with sliced red peppers.

7 Tasty Snacks: You really can't go wrong with any of the snacks.

I honestly can't think of one that I wouldn't eat, and I pretty much like them all. If I could only chose 7, I'd pick: the almond biscotti; the chocolate cake; the peppermint cookie patty; the nutrichocolates; the golden pound cake: the blueberry lemon dessert bar; and the mint chocolate crunch bar.

All of the meals are meant to be interchangeable. And, nutrisystem does allow for you to buy foods individually, by the week, and by the month. The monthly packages usually work out to be cheaper because you're buying in bulk and because they allow for you to use the most generous coupons with the monthly packages.

My opinion of the Diet nutrisystem

I lived the life of this system for some time. Mainly, I think, be able, my thoughts on what I like and do not share this regime and how it works. In this article I will share my observations and views of life on the nutrisystem diet.

the choice of food and taste nutrisystem total is better than most of the plans: I think the greatest strength of this scheme is the food. Compared to a diet such as Slim Fast, which is based mainly on himself and shakesDrinking, you will see that it goes far beyond. Because you are for food that looks real, even the food you eat when you eat the regime. And there are many available. you are choosing between strawberry or chocolate shakes. You must decide if you want to eat blueberry muffins or cinnamon rolls for breakfast, a dinner that pizza or ravioli, and if you are a brownie with chocolate or strawberryDessert.

I've been on many diets and not much you can kind of comfort food to eat or choose from more than 150 restaurants. Not many plans, you can add new pages to your main meals. Yes, the portion size a bit 'small, but very often (five times a day) and are used for food fast enough (especially when I started seeing results.)

Science based on nutrisystem and provides two mechanisms for weight loss (whichMy opinion is more effective.) Many systems, so that a calorie is in competition with the confidence that you are in fewer. This scheme does not, but he is not alone in one. She will be around 1200 - 1500 calories a day and this is probably more than you take in, if not the diet.

But the food that they offer have been optimized for a low glycemic index. Carbohydrates and sugars are low, while protein andThe fibers are high. This science allows, so that your body not only burns calories but burn more fat because they burn more carbohydrates. For me, one thing is more responsible for their success. The results are usually a bit 'faster and a little more drama and this is what keeps you motivated.

If you notice, concentrates most of the new weight loss and science literature on "good carbs" and the level of blood sugar stable and upgrades insulin peak.Nutrisystem focused on this all the time, but until recently, the conventional diet industry has begun to gain ground.

There is a bit 'of a learning curve with nutrisystem, but goes fast: At first, it may take several days to get used to it, if you eat five times. It was also an agreement on what is to educate the pages of low glycemic index. Because if you add meals unwanted sites, then you could fashion to burn fat, becauseThey take too much sugar or carbohydrates. In the early days, it can help to focus on the use of the band when you reach the ketone ketosis (fat burning mode.) Now you can continue to check if something moves where you do not want to be.

Once the results start coming, you confirm that you are doing has worked. Generally it is a motivator and as long as the weight continues to come from, do not try to overanalyzeThings or think about them. Sometimes it will be highland, but this is usually done by weight loss a bit 'more than at any time thereafter, followed all balances.

My general opinion on nutrisystem: Overall, I think it is a good diet. It 's easier for everyone else I tried. The food is very good. The selection is good. And the price is for all the food that you are beautiful. It 's my experience and I think if you do, what to do andFollow good (because every game so much), we can not help but succeed because they are used for both fewer calories and less carbohydrates.
