Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner in The Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic has a long roster of delectable food common with countries nearby such as Puerto Rico and Cuba as they share similar cultural traditions. As such, their cuisine has Arab, Chinese, Spanish, Italian and African ingredients.

For breakfast, the locals like to eat tropical fruits like bananas, passion fruit, papaya, mangoes, pineapples, jagua and zapote. Breakfast is also never complete without their traditional mangu. With its savory taste, it serves as a perfect appetizer to start the day. This is prepared by mixing mashed plantains, taro and cassava, sometimes varying it a bit by adding squash called auyama. They add fried shallots, cheese, eggs or salami to add to its rich taste.

Breakfast Pizza

During lunch, don't be surprised if they serve you the Dominican flag. Also known as La Bandera Dominicana, this dish is prepared with white rice, meat from beef, pork, chicken or goat, and bean stew made from white, red or black beans or even pigeon peas. It is served with salad or steamed vegetables, making it a complete meal.

Dinner is usually light on the stomach, which may be just a simple sandwich and a refreshing drink using natural fruit juices or a cup of hot chocolate or tea, depending on the season.

A festive treat for special events is a Dominican food called Sancocho, which is a stew prepared by mixing seven various kinds of meat, several tubers, and vegetables. Eat with them during Easter, and you will be delighted to taste their sweet beans called habichelas con dulce.

Discover the delightful cuisine that the Dominican Republic has to offer!

How a Jamaican Breakfast Nearly Destroyed Christmas Dinner

Being part of a mixed marriage is fun. My wife's family is from the Caribbean whilst my own is a mixture of Irish and Scottish. As both cultures are rich in music and food we often have interesting moments in our life. Christmas day this year was no exception.

My lovely wife of 21 years was actually born in the United Kingdom and has a good grasp of both her Jamaican heritage and British culture. As with every other year, last Christmas she spent most of Christmas Eve preparing our traditional meal of Turkey, Brussels sprouts, carrots, peas, Yorkshire pudding and her own home made delicious cranberry sauce. It took several hours to put together and my wife devoted a lot of care so as you can imagine we where all looking forward to a feast on the big day itself.

Breakfast Pizza

Everything was going to plan Xmas morning, the turkey was in the oven and we had all just come back from Church. My mother-in-law arrived as per her invitation and had unexpectedly bought with her a traditional Jamaican breakfast.

It smelt and looked delicious and because it had been cooked fresh we had to eat it there and then. With great delight my children and I munched our way through Ackee, Saltfish and fried dumplings.

At this point let me educate you about this outstanding dish;

Ackee is actually a fruit which grows on trees in Jamaica. The edible part has the consistency of scrambled egg when cooked and it truly is delicious.

Saltfish which normally dried cod goes really well with Ackee creating a rich experience of flavours. It is fried together with the ackee and forms the wonderful pungent mass in the pan.

The fried dumplings are another Caribbean delicacy traditionally served at breakfast, made from flour and water they are deep fried and just taste exceptional. All I can say about these is that they are quite stodgy and personally I find it impossible to eat more than 3.

The problem was that by the time we had finished eating this meal it was near time for my wife's festive feast to be served up and in reality we where full up.

In the nick of time I pulled the kids together, put on coats and even though we all felt lethargic insisted that we all go on a very long yuletide walk. Needless to say we burned off breakfast and even though we sat down a little later, we all enjoyed my wife's wonderful food.

How a Jamaican Breakfast Nearly Destroyed Christmas Dinner

Hope you enjoyed my short story, I write about everything such as a recent article I did about the benefits of a ceramic tile finder through to topics such as Wrexham wine stores

A Weekly Nutrisystem Menu Sample - 7 Examples of Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner Meals

I get a lot of emails from people who are asking for me to paint them a picture of what life on nutrisystem is like. I've written about a typical day on this diet. I've had a few people tell me that this isn't a big enough glimpse of the meals to give them a full idea of what they will be eating. So, in the following article, I'm going to expand on this idea and provide an example of a week's worth of breakfasts, lunches, dinners, snacks and desserts. I will also give you examples of the sides that you are asked to add onto each meal.

An Example Of A Week's Worth Of Nutrisystem Breakfasts: I often say that I think that the breakfasts, snacks, and desserts are my favorite part of this diets. Even though this is a lower carb diet, you are still allowed cereals, muffins, pancakes, and scones. For this example, I've tried to mix things up a bit so that there's a lot of variety. Here are seven typical breakfasts that I chose and the sides which would work well with them. They are: the banana nut muffin with milk; the egg frittata with cantaloupe; the blueberry pancakes with yogurt; the apple cinnamon oatmeal with apple slices; the apple strudel scone with cottage cheese; the cluster crunch cereal with skim milk; and the cinnamon roll with yogurt.

Now, this is only seven choices. There are more. But this does give you a good sampling of the types of products that you will eat. There are different flavors within each category. There are different flavors of oatmeal, cereals, scones, and muffins. What I've given are examples that I enjoy.

7 Days Worth Of Nutrisystem Lunches: People often expect to see a lot of soups here. And, there are some. But there are also pastas, hot dogs, bars, salads, and rice dishes. The examples that I've chosen are: the cheese tortellini and a small salad; the hot dog and celery sticks; the chicken and pasta in cacciatore sauce with carrot sticks; the chicken caesar salad with blueberries; the red beans and rice with red peppers; the minestrone soup with salad; the fettucine alfredo and cucumber slices; and finally, the chicken and noodles with watermelon.

A Weekly Sample Menu Of Nutrisystem Dinners: The dinners are a bit more substantial and they do offer a lot of variety. I tend to like the comfort food options, so if I were choosing for an entire week, I might chose: the Cajun chicken and sausage with fat and sugar free pudding; the lasagne and meat sauce with a salad; the pizza and strawberries; the beef steak with potatoes and cantaloupe; the bar b que pork wrap with celery sticks and fat free dressing; the macaroni cheese and beef with sliced tomatoes; and the mushroom risotto with sliced red peppers.

7 Tasty Snacks: You really can't go wrong with any of the snacks. But, here are seven of my favorites: the nachos; the pretzels; the herb snack mix; the cheese puffs; the bar b que chips; the coconut almond bar; and the chocolate rainbow desserts.

A Week's Worth Of Desserts: This isn't going to be very original, but the desserts are my favorite. I honestly can't think of one that I wouldn't eat, and I pretty much like them all. If I could only chose 7, I'd pick: the almond biscotti; the chocolate cake; the peppermint cookie patty; the nutrichocolates; the golden pound cake: the blueberry lemon dessert bar; and the mint chocolate crunch bar.

All of the meals are meant to be interchangeable. And, nutrisystem does allow for you to buy foods individually, by the week, and by the month. The monthly packages usually work out to be cheaper because you're buying in bulk and because they allow for you to use the most generous coupons with the monthly packages.

Easy Pizza Recipe - A Quick, Tasty Dinner Fix

Who doesn't love pizza? I do, you do, our friends do. Everyone loves pizza - and it's easy to see why. If you're the type who does not cook or does not have the time to cook, then pizza deliveries are a lifesaver. If, on the other hand, you enjoy cooking but don' have much time to spend in the kitchen, then an easy pizza recipe is the ideal dinner fix for those busy weeknights when you need to make dinner quickly but painlessly.

An easy pizza recipe is easy enough to find. You can buy a cookbook, ask for recipes from friends, or download resources online. The last option is my favorite because as a career woman and a mom, I neither have the time to peruse cookbooks or compare notes with friends. My favorite resource at the moment is Beverly Collins' latest release, 'Secrets from Inside the Pizzeria.' It's a good resource for both beginners and seasoned cooks alike because it shares the secrets to some of Manhattan's best pizza places using language that is fun to read and easy to understand.

Remember, for pizza to be delicious, it does not have to be complicated. An easy pizza recipe is guaranteed to do the trick. You do not need fancy equipment to create tasty pizza you can share with family and friends. You do not need a dough hook, bread machine, or even a food processor. You do not even need a broiler or a brick oven although pizza cooked using these equipment tastes amazing. The truth is, to get a deliciously crusty crust, all you need is to turn your oven on for a good ten minutes before you put your pizza in. Be careful not to put your face or hands anywhere near this blazing inferno though or you would end up not just with scrumptious pizza but with a high-heat facial as well!
