Of all of the questions that I get about the Nutrisystem diet, questions about the food and it's taste are the most common. People want to know if you really get to eat burgers and pizza. (And if so, are they decent?) They want to know if the foods have the texture of cardboard or sport any weird after tastes that are typical of diet food. And they want to know if there are enough decent options so that there will be enough foods for them to enjoy and rotate so that they don't get bored. I'll address these concerns in the following article.
The Nutrisystem Foods That Really Do Taste Good: In general, there are a decent amount of the food choices that are quite good. Some are so good that I would eat them even if I were not on a diet. Most of the foods that I consider the best fall into the breakfast, dinner, and snack / dessert categories. For example, the muffins, pancakes, scones, biscotti and oatmeal are all really nice and good tasting options for breakfast. The flat bread pizza, ravioli, macaroni and cheese, pepper steak, fajitas, and tacos are pretty decent in the dinner category. And almost any of the cookies, almost all of the cakes, and the chocolate bars (that look and taste a lot like a candy bar) are delicious enough that I would reach for them even if I were not on a weight loss plan.
Now of course, you must suspect that in order for these comfort foods to be allowed into a diet plan, they are going to have to be modified in some way. For example, the cake isn't dripping in sugary frosting and the pizza isn't loaded with a lot of greasy cheese, but I don't know very many diets (and low carbohydrate ones at that) which would even allow you to think about these options, much less allow you to eat them up to five times per day. And yes, the portions are smaller, but you get used to this and if they weren't, do you really think you'd lose as much weight as many people do?
If You Really Want The Best Tasting Nutrisystem Foods, Check Out The Nutrisystem Select Line: Nutrisystem Select is a new line that describes itself as "gourmet, fresh frozen meals." I'm not sure how they make this distinction because most of the new 39 additional meals are frozen, but they are extremely good. I've heard them described as restaurant quality and I would agree with that on many, but not all, of them. Most of the additions are in the dinner category where they'd added some yummy choices like shrimp Alfredo, steak with portabella mushrooms, bar b que beef, and panini style sandwiches. This line is a touch more expensive (around $30 more) but I suspect most folks will think that it is worth it because it does offer more elaborate and fancy choices that you will likely come to appreciate when you are eating the food five times per day.
Speaking of the frequency with which you are eating the food, there is also a Nutrisystem flex program that allows you to take two days off each week. This allows you to still diet but to also be able to take a break and eat normally and to eat out with your family if you wish for a couple of days a week. This program is also cheaper because you don't need as much food. It runs just a little over $200 and many people feel it's a good way to sort of ease into the program. Many people eventually go to the full time regular program after they see the results and come to realize that this plan really isn't as bad or as restrictive as they had feared.
