To make a great homemade pizza sauce, you need to start with the basic ingredients listed below:

garlic cloves, mincedOnion Olive oil Can of tomato puree Can of crushed tomatoes Rosemary/Basil/Oregano Salt Sugar

Optional Ingredients

Crushed red pepper Onion Powder Touch of Red or White Wine Black Pepper Brown Sugar Garlic Powder

Once the desired ingredients are selected, you can follow the steps below:

1. Saute garlic and/or onion in olive oil.
2. Add tomato puree and crushed tomatoes into a food processor (the Cuisinart DLC-10S does a great job...) and blend mixture for about 10 second.
3. Add remaining ingredients and continue mixing on low for desired consistency.

You can also make more than enough and freeze the rest for future meals. With a little bit of tweaking, this sauce recipe can also be used to compliment stuffed shells, cabbage or lasagna.

After the crust is rolled out, add the sauce mixture with a ladle. Spread the sauce in a circular motion until the entire pizza crust is covered. Add a layer of fresh mozzarella cheese. The authentic Italian restaurant will use sliced mozzarella, but shredded will also do.

Place the pizza in a preheated oven set at about 350 for about 12-14 minutes. When the cheese is bubbling and the crust is turning to a golden brown, the pizza is ready. Slice into eight pieces and enjoy.
