Italy is a truly wondrous place. I like staying there every now and then, and one of my all-time favorites is the city of Naples. Life slows down to a relaxing pace as you take in the sights and smells of the old streets, reminding you of the history embedded in nearly every part of your surroundings. With castles, churches, and museums galore, there is something worthwhile for everyone to enjoy seeing. There's a reason why Italian cuisine is such a hit worlwide, and while you'll be very satisfied with possibly everything you eat while in Napoli, you might also be a little surprised to discover that real Italian food is not exactly what you normally find everywhere else. Go to a pizza place called Micheles (ask around - everyone who lives there knows where it is!) and you'll see what I mean. It's incredibly delicious. They make only two kinds of pizza there, as they stick to the authentic recipe created oh so very very many years ago, and yet the line outside is usally pretty long around lunchtime and dinnertime. Tables may even be shared with other patrons in this small establishment, and they usually close down when they run out of pizza dough. They've been mentioned in various newspapers and magazines around the world as having the best pizza in Italy. While I have a few other favorites to go with theirs, I totally agree that this is something every pizza lover should experience. I love that there's a place for everything - like coffee bars, pastry and dessert shops, and sandwich shops (with their unbelievalbe selection).
For a wonderful day, hop on a boat to the island of Capri or Ischia. Breathe in the fresh salty air as you soothe your senses withtheir delightful beauty. Plan a trip to the ruins of Pompeii and engage your curiosity as you see evidence of how people lived long ago. Tour Naples underground for an eerie look at the past. There are just so many places to visit. For an inexpensive yet comfortable place to stay, try Hotel Plaza Napoli and you'll find it provides a lot for a lot less. It's located in the heart of Naples, with easy access to many modes of transportation, and is within walking distance of some of those places you need to see. Check out their website as they have many different specials going on all the time. The whole building was redone recently and sound-proofed for maximum serenity. Their breakfast buffet is also worth waking up for!
