Ocean City, Maryland restaurant Reviews

Ocean City offers a wide variety of dining choices. My favorite bistro is the Marina Deck settled at 306 Dorchester Street. Try their cream of crab soup for a taste of true Maryland cuisine, or pick from any of their seafood dishes, all things is very good. As with any restaurant, house specialties are always the best so don't go to a seafood bistro expecting great ribs. Marina Deck is a must visit while in Ocean City.

If you're in the mood for ribs or beef I would advise Nick's former House of Ribs settled at 14410 Coastal Hwy, or Bull on the Beach with 2 locations, one at 94th street & Coastal Hwy and one just surface Ocean City on Route 50. While Nick's has the best ribs, Bull on the Beach has the best pit beef in Ocean City. Many visitors and locals reconsider Bull on the Beach a must place to eat while in Ocean City and their bar is a relaxed conference place for locals. Jr's used to be the place to go for ribs but I have gotten some bad reviews about service the last few years and I have not been overly pleased with their service.

Breakfast Pizza

When you're in the mood for Italian head uptown to Adolfo's Italian bistro settled at 806 S. Baltimore Avenue. Their food is perfect and extremely recommended by locals, however; the best doesn't come cheap so be prepared to pay top dollar to eat here. For very good Italian food at house prices try Salvatore's Italian & Seafood house bistro settled just surface of Ocean City on Route 50. I don't reconsider Salvatore's a step down from Adolfo's, just a different menu with a more house amiable menu and cheap prices.

The Japanese steak house, Sakura, is one of my family's favorite places to eat. settled in the White Marlin Mall just surface of Ocean City on Route 50 it offers some perfect beef, poultry, and seafood dishes all cooked in front of you by some talented chefs. Wait times are not too long, but keep in mind that parties of less than 6 will be seated with other small parties. This is honestly fun and gives you a occasion to meet other couples or families. While I'm not into Sushi, I'm told theirs is very good. Sakura's is a must visit while in Ocean City. Unfortunately there is no one Chinese bistro that I can advise over another, so this will have to be a try it and see selection. I always advise you try new restaurants at lunch or at early bird dinner hours when the prices are commonly much lower.

On days when all you can think about is dinner I advise going to a buffet. This has become a favorite dinner alternative in our area because you can honestly get a good value for your dollar when you're super hungry. If you in general want crabs or crabs and shrimp my favorites are Waterman's settled on Route 50 just surface of Ocean City and Higgins Crab House with two locations; 31st & Coastal Hwy and 128th St & Coastal Hwy. Both of these are, in my mind at least, must visit restaurants. Crab feasts are the most thrifty way to get crabs but buying them by the dozen allows you to get larger crabs and take the leftovers home to eat later. Both of these restaurants have carry-out as well as eat in and all you can eat menus. If buying crabs to go I always advise buying them by the ½ bushel or whole bushel, because you get more for your dollar. When you're in the mood for more variety the best buffet is at The Bonfire settled at 71st St & Ocean Hwy and the Embers bistro settled at 24th street & Coastal Hwy. Both of these offer prime rib and seafood buffets that are the best in town.

Tired from being at the beach all day? Try Ponzetti's Pizza settled at 144th street & Coastal Hwy, this is a non-chain pizza parlor with very good pizza, an amusement area, and a full service bar. There are many pizza places in Ocean City but Ponzetti's, Lombardi's settled at 9203 Coastal Highway, and the Dough Roller with 4 locations; 70th & Coastal Highway, 1125th street & Costal Highway, department street & Boardwalk, 213 North Atlantic Avenue, are, in that order, the best in my opinion. If you're in the mood for a sub try Fat Daddy's settled at 216 S. Baltimore Ave. Of procedure all of the fast food chains are represented up and down Coastal Hwy, but I honestly think you will like our local restaurants and Deli's much good for close to the same cost.

As stated earlier; try unknown restaurants at lunch or for their early bird dinners to see if they are worth spending your hard earned money on. Like all resort areas there are what I call "rip-off" restaurants that appear for a summer or two and then vanish. You may have noticed that several of the restaurants I advise are settled just surface of Ocean City, but all of them are less than 5 minutes away. Every bistro I advise is frequented by locals and is open year-round with the irregularity of the Marina Deck which has a smaller bistro in Ocean Pines that is open year-round. Practically every inquire I am asked about restaurants starts with; where do the locals eat? The restaurants listed here are where my house and friends eat that is in or near Ocean City.

Restaurant Menus: A Good Menu Reflects The Personality Of The Restaurant

Restaurant Menus should reflect they style and atmosphere of a restaurant. When developing one care should be taken to provide customers with a sense of what the restaurant is all about. If the establishment is a family restaurant the menu should have family friendly entrees as well as visually appeal to those people that have families. If it is a formal restaurant the menu should have more chic entrees and the look of the menu should be more precise and conservative.

There is much more to a menu than just the items to order and the prices. Many considerations have to be made when developing a menu. Demographics are very important. Pricing wholly depends on the average salary a person or family makes within the area of the restaurant. You may notice when visiting a chain restaurant in several different towns that they have the same menu items but the prices may be different. The cost of living in an area dictates how much a restaurant can charge for an item. The same item may cost a few dollars more at a restaurant in New York City or Boston than it does in a small town in Ohio.

Demographics make a huge difference in what is to on the menu at a restaurant as well. If an area has many elderly people the restaurant may want to cater to them by giving them discounts or the menu may allow for smaller senior meals. The print on this menu may need to be a little larger to make sure the elderly can read it. If the area has families then they want to have a children's menu with family friendly food. If the restaurant is in a business district they may want to cater to business people bringing clients out for lunch or dinner and the menu would be a little more formal.

Some menus give you a huge selection of what you can order and some are very limited. They may have just a few entrees and they may change from time to time. The items on a menu are usually in groupings. A simple grouping would be Appetizers, Beverages, Entrees, Side dishes, Desserts. Some menu categories are more varied. Entrees can be classified by the ingredients in them like seafood, pasta, sandwiches, etc.

Usually a menu will start with appetizers and progress from soups and salads. It will then detail a listing of entrees and their side dishes then go on to desserts with beverages being last. Other menus will go from breakfast to lunch to dinner. Traditionally the items are placed in each section the least expensive to the most expensive. However, that may not be the most ideal way to place things on a menu. It has been proven that placing items the restaurant wants to sell first will sell more of those items. Maybe they have a specialty no one else has been able to make in a similar fashion and it appears on the menu at the top of the entrees even though it is the most expensive. The restaurateur wanted people to order it so it was placed first on the menu.

Illustrations are essential for some menus including a family menu so the children who cannot read yet can pick by picture. People like to see illustrations and photos of the food they will be ordering. There are many places that one can get stock pictures or just use a digital camera. Good restaurant menus can include a description of the menu item. A more formal menu should be less graphic oriented and more word oriented. A detailed description should be included and some restaurants go as far as placing words from the chef or the pedigree of a dish.

The color of the menu should reflect the personality of the restaurant. A red and white checkered tablecloth might be a great background for an Italian restaurant menu. A brightly colored menu is good for a family restaurant. A classic black and white menu exudes formality for an expensive classic restaurant. The font should follow in the same manner. Use scrolling letters for classic restaurant but stay away from font with too many curlicues for a family restaurant as it is a little hard to read. Parents with hungry kids want to see what is on the menu and order it as fast as they can. Menus that have more than two columns tend to look like they were printed at the local newspaper so stay to no more than the two columns.

Menus come in different shapes today instead of the plain rectangular type that open to a square. A pizza restaurant can have a menu in a circle just like the pizza if they choose to. If the menu looks clean and tidy people will automatically think the restaurant is the same way. If the menu looks like fun and contains some fun filled quips about the food people will automatically think that in coming to that restaurant they will have fun. Design of a menu has a great deal to do with how the public thinks about the restaurant.

Menu items that are popular should be placed in the top left panel of the menu. This is where the eye goes when first opening the menu up. If there are daily specials, this is the place to put them. If the restaurant has a signature dish or two, this is the place of prominence where all eyes will see them. Prices should be placed in different areas after a description of an item. Placing them in a column makes it so that customer does not have to read the descriptions. They just look at the prices to see what is the cheapest dinner.

A good menu reflects the personality of the restaurant and leads customers to entrees that are popular and successful. A good menu has just enough description to wet the appetite and not to bore the reader. A good menu is easy to read and customers will remember the basics of what was on it several days after they have seen it. A good menu has a either pictures or descriptions that will tell the customer exactly what they are getting. Most important a good menu is priced right as to the area and gives the customer a great deal for good food.

The food is great at restaurants Montreal in the province of Quebec. Back in Ontario, popular destinations include restaurant Mississauga.

True Sicilian Style Pizza at Pizza Restaurant

Across the country of Italy, the homeland of the pizza pie, there are a number of different variations that people have come to love. One of these variations is the Sicilian style pizza. Through this brief article you are provided a look at the Sicilian style pizza in its most traditional form. The fact is that through the years, in many countries around the world, there have been innumerable attempts to refashion Sicilian style pizza. However, when all is said and done, purists will tell you directly that there is only one way to make true Sicilian style pizza.

When it comes to tradition, there probably are very few other places in the world that are more connected to their history than are the people of Sicily. This includes all aspects of life on the island, including when it comes to food and dining. Therefore, the manner in which Sicilian style pizza is made is something that has been passed along from generation to generation.

Breakfast Pizza

The most fundamental difference between Sicilian style pizza and other variations of the pizza pie rests in ths fact that all - all - of the ingredients are backed directly into - into - the crust. Everything.

An authentic Sicilian pizza recipe utilizes a variety of different ingredients. However, neither anchovies nor cheese are ever used in traditional Sicilian style pizza. Indeed, the absence of cheese in traditional and authentic Sicilian style pizza is another element of this type of pie that sets it apart from most other variations.

Beginning in the 1990s, a number of pizza restaurants got onto the proverbial "Sicilian pizza" bandwagon. However, with that said, while they were making delicious pies, and while they were calling them Sicilian, in fact the pizzas that were crafted really were not Sicilian in the strictest sense of the world.

For example, a number of restaurants and bistros around the world (and off the island of Sicily) introduced rectangular shaped pizzas that were topped with sauce and cheese. Again, authentic Sicilian pizza has not toppings (everything is baked in the crust) and no cheese.

What these restaurants and bistros did bake into the crust were herbs like basil, oregano and garlic. The end result certainly were delicious pizza pies. But, authentic Sicilian pizza they were not.

The reality is that through the years there have been many variations on some of the more traditional pizzas. While a Sicilian pizza purist might balk at some to the transformations given to the delectable offering, the end result has been some tasty hybrids that do pay tribute on some level to the magnificent Sicilian pizza.

A Look at Neapolitan Pizza in Pizza Restaurant

While many pizza pies call themselves "Neapolitan," the fact is that there are certain "requirements" (if you will) to make a pizza truly Neapolitan. Through this article you are provided an overview of what it "takes" to make a truly Neapolitan pizza pie. Brace your taste buds for a look at one of traditional pizza variations loved by many.

Truly authentic Neapolitan pizza pies are crafted only with local ingredients from the Neapolitan region of Italy - period. Purists maintain that there can be no exceptions and no substitutes. (Of course, as is the case with any relating to pizza, there are always variations on a theme which turn out to be tasty in their own rights.)

Breakfast Pizza

The fact is that there is a specific set of proposed rules dictating precisely how Neapolitan pizza can be made. One who does not follow these rules is not making true Neapolitan pizza. The rules have been proposed by the organization that oversees the creation of true Neapolitan pizza: Associazione Vere Pizza Napoletana.

In regard to the ingredients of Neapolitan pizza, only San Marzano tomatoes are used. These tomatoes can only be found on the volcanic plains that lie to the south of the legendary Mount Vesuvius. In addition, only a very specific type of cheese can be used on a true Neapolitan pizza: Mozzarella di Bufala Campana. This cheese is made from the milk of water buffalo that are raised on the marshlands of Campania and Lazio. These water buffalo actually are kept in a semi-wild state.

The base of genuine Neapolitan pizza is made from dough the consists only of Italian flour of a specific type (specifically, Type 0 or Type 00). Moreover, only natural Neapolitan yeast or brewer's yeast is used in the preparation of the dough. Finally, the salt and water used in the preparion of the dough for the base likewise must come from the Neapolitan region of Italy itself.

The dough must be kneaded by hand (or, perhaps, with a low speed mixer). Once rising process is completed, the dough must be formed by hand. Even the size and look of the base or crust must be precise. The base cannot be more that 3 mm (1/8 inch) thick.

The pizza itself must be baked for between 60 and 90 seconds in a stone over set at 905 degrees Fahrenheit. The fire must be created using oak wood only. When cooked, the pizza should be "tender, crispy and fragrant" according to local tradition. In the end, a person who gets the chance to dine on true Neapolitan pizza may very well be experiencing a once in a lifetime delight ... to say the least.

Schamburg Illinois Restaurant Guide

Schaumburg Restaurants

I have lived in Schaumburg Illinois for over 30 years and have eaten at almost every restaurant in Schaumburg. If you are out of towners or live in Schaumburg you will find you answers here.

Breakfast Pizza

If you are looking for the best breakfast you will ever have go to Richard Walkers located 1/4 mile north of Golf Road on Roselle Rd. You want to order an apple pancake and plan to be full for the rest of the day. Every thing at Richard Walkers is great to eat and the service is outstanding. On the bossiest days (Sat. & Sun) you should plan to wait about 15 to 20 minutes. Do not stay in Schaumburg Illinois and not pass up Richard Walkers for breakfast.

If your in Chicago land you need to have deep dish pizza. The restaurant in Schaumburg for Pizza is Lou Malnatis located at the corner of Schaumburg Rd and Roselle rd. They have outstanding deep-dish pizza that will melt in your mouth. I have never tasted any other food besides the pizza but it is a good family restaurant.

The best Mexican food in Schaumburg is served up at El Meson located less than a quarter mile west of Roselle Rd on Schaumburg Rd in the small strip mall. Their Margaritas and Sangria are awesome; they will not reveal their recipe for the Sangria if asked. Food is great but the service is sometimes slow.

If your looking for Italian food in Schaumburg then go to Maggianos located by Streets of WoodField. When you walk into Maggianos your mouth will start watering with the smells of garlic bread and Pasta. They have good service the only draw back is that parking and the wait are horrible on the weekends.

The hands down sea food king in Schaumburg is Shaws Crab house located in Streets of Woodfield. All I can say is the is your around for crab fest or lobster fest bring a bigger belt because you will eat a lot. Great Service and great sea food don't miss out on Shaws Crab.

Choosing Colors For Your Restaurant

Every restaurant needs a color scheme. Colors must be chosen for your walls, decor, tables, linens, the exterior, signage, logo, basically everything, but what colors are best? How do you choose? Let's take a look at some choices:

Red - Red is a color that is bold, noticeable and gives a sense of urgency. However, it can also be a color that symbolizes anger but also love. Red is a good color for many ethnic restaurants, since red is a dominant color in so many country's flags.

Green - Green is a color that may signify good luck, nature and money. Green can also symbolize jealousy. Green is usually a good choice for an accent color.

Blue - Blue symbolizes peace, calm and serenity. Blue can also make a person feel cool, cold or disconnected. Blue is a nice color for a restaurant that is laid back.

Yellow - Yellow is a color that can signify happiness, joy and summer. Yellow can also symbolize cheapness or stinginess. Yellow is usually good as an accent color or as a background color.

Orange - Orange can mean excitement and enthusiasm. Like yellow, orange is usually a good accent color.

Purple - Purple symbolizes passion and creativity. However, purple also means death in some countries and in some religions. Purple is usually used as an accent color.

White - White symbolizes cleanliness, clarity and purity. White is always a good choice for table linens and textiles. White is also a great color to make your guests feel like there is more space in your restaurant.

Black - Black can signify excitement, class, boldness and be futuristic. Black can also signify sadness, evil and anger. Black is perfect for an accent color or as a compliment to a lighter color.

These are the basic colors that you will work from to create different shades and mixtures of colors for your restaurant.
Pastels and lighter and darker versions of these colors will allow you to put together the perfect color scheme for your particular restaurant and allow you to attract more customers. If you notice the colors of many fast food restaurants, including McDonald's and Burger King, you'll see they all choose from the same color scheme, which consists of browns, reds, oranges and blacks. These companies have poured money into researching the effects of color on diners, and have found these colors to be the most conducive to buying and eating food. A higher class restaurant may want to take this into consideration and use these colors as accents to your chosen color scheme.

Whatever colors you choose, they should compliment your setting, theme and most of all, your menu and food.

The Wide World of Pizza in Pizza Restaurant

Travel across Italy and you will hear people from different regions claiming that their part of the country is the birthplace of the pizza pie. As the dough rises this will be a debate that carries on to the end of time. What is clear when it comes to pizza is that through the years there have been many tasty variations on the theme. Through this article you are provided a peak of some of those different types of pizza that have taken hold today.

Greek pizza is the brainchild of a number of Greek immigrants to North America. What these people created was a pizza pie that has a thicker and chewer crust that some of the more traditional variations of the pie. Greek pizza is baked in a pan rather than directly on the bricks or on some other type of cooking surface. Olive oil is used as a topping on the pizza itself rather liberally. In addition, this types will oftentimes come complete with feta cheese as well as Kalamata olives. This particular type of pizza has proven to be very popular in New England in the U.S.A. as well as in different Greecian enclaves in North America.

St. Louis style pizza is a type of thin crust pizza that gained popularity in and around the St. Louis, Missouri, region before spreading out more broadly. The main distinction between St. Louis style pizza and other thin crust variations is the substitution of Provel cheese for mozzarella cheese - which is the cheese type that commonly is used in a wide range of other types of pizzas, particularly pizzas that are served in North America.

One of the more popular pizza types throughout many of the European Union countries, Australia, Canada, Sweden and the Western United States is what is known as Hawaiian pizza. The base or crust of this pizza varies - it can be thicker or thinner to taste. It is the toppings that define Hawaiian pizza (which is known as Pizza Hawaii throughout the EU). The toppings are Canadian bacon (or sliced ham, depending on local custom and availability), pineapple and mozzarella cheese. What is most unusual about Hawaiian pizza is that it did not originate in Hawaii and is not popular on the islands.

California style pizza generally is a type of pizza that uses a variety of what might be considered non-traditional ingredients. This includes a variety of fresh produce toppings that liberally are utilized on this type of pizza. Moreover, sauces like barbecue are often substituted for more common types of sauces that historically have been used on pizza pies.
