Portland is truly a city that is dedicated to production life easy and fun for the citizen who live there. The city itself is kept clean and the city motto is "Keep Portland Weird." If you are planning a trip to Portland, here are a few of the places you must visit:

1. Powell's Books. The flagship store is settled on the angle of 10th Ave and Burnside. This firm is wholly independent and though it is possible to shop at Powell's on the internet, the only corporeal locations for Powell's are in the Portland metro area. The store features both new and used books-which can be found side by side on the shelves. This is not a store that has given in to corporate merchandising. On the contrary, Powell's started out as a tiny independent bookstore a few decades ago and it's commitment to independence has helped it grow into one of the shining jewels of Portland! If you want to read it, you will find it on Powell's shelves.

2. Voodoo Doughnuts. This tiny doughnut shop can absolutely be passed by. It is settled absolutely through a hole in the wall on 3rd and Burnside. The owners of this twenty four hour jewel of Portland started their shop to feed the citizen stumbling out of the many bars that surround it. Originally open only at night, the owners now keep their doors open twenty four hours and have recently opened a second location in South East Portland. The range of doughnuts is huge and varied-do you want bacon on your maple bar? You can get it here-along with vegan doughnuts and doughnuts covered in Fruit Loops!

Exploring London - 5 Out-of-the-Ordinary Things to Do

I have been to London, England, a few times now and every time I find something new to explore. The tourist guides and brochures mostly push the sights of London like Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Windsor Castle, and Hampton Court Palace. Especially whenever I was traveling on a budget, I found that even though these places were wonderful and should no doubt be visited, they were overrun with tourists and some of them required a pretty hefty entry fee.

Exploring on my own, I found some challenging places. Have a look at what I have discovered and I wish you happy traveling in London!

1. Take a Jack the Ripper Tour

If you are up for some spine-chilling entertainment, book a Jack the Ripper walking tour on the Internet before you visit London. There are a collection of fellowships that offer this type of tour and the prices were very comparable. I paid somewhere colse to Canadian Dollars, which seems to be standard. You can reserve your spot online and print out your marker at home. The tour commonly starts off at East Aldgate inexpressive station and then continues on the path of Jack the Ripper. You will be walking into the night, so make sure you bring adequate footwear and warm clothes, depending on the weather. You might also want to be prepared for rain and don't forget that camera. The tour guides are very knowledgeable about London history and the tour is challenging and informative. This is one way you will get to see a whole collection of London's back alleys, noisy pubs, and creepy side streets without getting lost in the dark.

2. Camden Town

Personally, I like buying the London Travelcard when I am in London. It is a great way to save some money if you will be using the social transport law a lot. You can pick which zones you want to consist of and off you go traveling as much as you like within your zones for the estimate of days you bought the card for. It's suitable and cheaper than buying particular tickets if you are in London for a few days.

At any rate, you can hop on the Northern line heading north and get off at Camden Town. If you exit the inexpressive station arrival out on Camden High Street, take a right toward the canal. You will find the whole road lined with itsybitsy shops and store stalls. If you continue down Camden High Street, you will finally cross the canal and then find more store stalls at Camden Lock store and the Stables. There are hundreds of itsybitsy shops and stalls everywhere, so just investment right in and have a look around. You are not obligated to buy anything, but you are sure to find anything you can think of there. It is a great way to spend some time if it is raining, as some of the store area is covered, or if you naturally want to range colse to and shop. There is food available at different places as well, so if you get hungry from all the wandering around, you have your selection of many different types of food.

3. Take a Subway Tour

Now this might sound a itsybitsy strange, but it is great fun. If your legs are tired from all the walking around, pick a line and let yourself be taken to some of the inexpressive stations. There are books available about the history of the London inexpressive stations and it is very neat to get out and witness the history of some of them. Buy a subway history book before heading to London and then witness the stations. Aldgate station (served by Metropolitan and Circle Lines) is very cool to look at and if you liked Atonement, you can also check out Balham station (on the Northern Line heading south). A friend of mine also let me know that there are tours and visits available for some of the abandoned stations in London, but unfortunately I do not have any more detailed facts about that yet.

4. Eat at Pizza Express

Not just any Pizza Express though. The one I like best is situated right beside Shakespeare's Globe Theatre. The presuppose you should go there is first of all that they have wonderful Italian food and second of all, it comes at a uncostly price. So if you would like to treat yourself to some appetizers, a great meal, and dessert, you can affordably do it at the Pizza Express. You can get there by taking the tube to Mansion House (Circle and District Lines) and then following the signs to the Millennium Bridge. Walk over the Millennium Foot Bridge and should be able to see the Globe already. Head toward the Globe, following along the Thames, and when you reach the Globe, Pizza Express will be in the building over the road from the Globe's main entrance. Pick a table upstairs and enjoy a meal overlooking the Thames.

5. Concert and evening meal at St. Martin-in-the Fields

This one is less for the cost than it is for the experience. St. Martin-in-the-Fields (although not in fields any longer) is a church in Trafalgar square and it's without fail worth a visit either you effect a distinct religious reliance or not. The church crypt has been converted into a café, where you can have breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It offers an amazing, intimate climate and the food is great.

If you have time and like music, you can also take in one of the performances. The acoustics in the church are foreseen, and there are a wide range of concerts being offered. You can buy tickets online before you even travel to London if you like, to ensure you get a good seat. Make sure that if you have evening meal before a execution you come early because it fills up quickly.

To get there, take the tube to Charing Cross (Northern and Bakerloo Lines) and start heading for the National Gallery. You will find signs pointing you in the right direction. For detailed directions, you can also check their website.

5 Things to Do on Table Mountain in Cape Town

Table Mountain - the symbol of Cape Town. Wonderful to look at it may be, but do you want to get more out of it during your trip to this amazing city? There are loads of ways that you can experience the mountain, some of which are certainly not for the faint hearted. Here are some of the things that you can do when you visit Table Mountain in Cape Town.

Cable Car to the Top
The best way to experience the mountain for all ages, the cable car is not for anyone with a fear of heights, but for anyone else it will be an exhilarating ride. Buy a ticket online to avoid the queues (but children under 4 go free), and then enjoy the five-minute journey from ground level up to the very top of Table Mountain. From the top you will get an unbeatable view of Cape Town and the stunning ocean over 1,000 metres below, as well as the new Cape Town Stadium built specially for the World Cup. From there just enjoy strolling around and admiring the plants, animals and the views until you're ready to go back down.

Hike the Mountain
Hiking in Cape Town is accessible to anyone with a love of the outdoors, and is certainly available to novice walkers as well as hard-core hiking enthusiasts. There are lots of routes to choose from, and many guided walks are also available. The scenery is spectacular, and the views as well. You could choose to hike up, hike down, or take the cable car up and down and hike around at the top. If you do go hiking, remember never to go alone and to go with a guided group if possible. It's also very important to take plenty of drinking water, especially during the summer months.

Enjoy a Meal
There is plenty of good eating on offer in Cape Town, and Table Mountain is no exception. If you are not one for strenuous activities, you can simply enjoy the views at the top whilst having a bite to eat in the Table Mountain Café. You will find breakfast, pizza and South African cuisine on offer, as well as tea, coffee and a selection of good wines.

Abseil Down
Any thrill seekers heading to Cape Town won't be disappointed with the abseiling on offer on Table Mountain, which boasts the largest commercial abseil in the world with a vertical 112-metre descent. This has to be organised through an official guide and you should definitely not attempt it alone. On top of abseiling, there are also cliff jumps on offer for the adrenaline junkies, with drops of up to 18 metres into the ocean.

Rock Climbing
Another one for thrill seekers in Cape Town, Table Mountain boasts some fantastic rock climbing opportunities. Climbing is on offer for all ages on sandstone walls of varying levels of difficulty, and again this should only be carried out with experienced guides through an official company.

Enjoy all that Table Mountain has to Offer
Table Mountain is a fantastic place for those who either simply want to see some spectacular views or want to enjoy something a bit more exciting. Whatever you feel like doing, look into it next time you are in Cape Town.

A Few Things You Should Know About Pizza Dough

Many people are intimidated by the thought of making their own pizza dough from scratch although the process is a relatively simple one especially once you have made your first batch. In addition, although frozen pizza dough may be convenient and relatively inexpensive, the taste rarely mimics authentic, handmade pizza dough giving you even more reason to try making your own.

Flour is your friend when it comes to working with pizza dough. Always have a few tablespoons nearby in case your dough is unmanageable or sticks to your hands when kneading. You will also need to add some flour to your dough if you are rolling it out with a rolling pin to keep it from sticking and ripping apart.

Breakfast Pizza

Always roll from the center to the outer edges and sprinkle some flour on the underside of the dough as well. Keep rolling the dough until you notice it losing most of its elasticity. Then, using a fork, prick a few holes through the dough before baking to keep air bubbles from forming.

Once you have become familiar working with the dough, making a double crusted pizza is another way of creating a delicious dish and satisfying meal. Use two balls of dough and roll each out into circular shapes as you would when making an ordinary pizza but overlap the two pieces after adding the sauce and fillings.

The easiest way to tell your pizza has cooked for the proper length of time is when you notice the dough turning a golden brown color. The crust or edges should be slightly darker and the bottom of the pizza should be browned evenly. The cheese will also darken and be completely melted on a pizza that has cooked long enough.

Quick and Healthy Breakfast Pizza Recipe

What You Need

Nonstick cooking spray 1 11 ounce package refrigerated pizza crust 1 tablespoon butter 2 cups liquid egg whites, refrigerated 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon black pepper 1/4 teaspoon onion powder 1-1/2 cups frozen vegetables, your choice, thawed 1-1/2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded 1/2 cup pepper jack cheese, shredded 3 frozen turkey sausage patties, thawed

How to Make It

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Coat a large baking sheet with the nonstick cooking spray and unroll the refrigerated pizza crust onto it.

Bake the dough partially for about 5 minutes and then set aside.

In a large skillet, melt the tablespoon of butter then add the egg whites, salt and pepper, and onion powder and scramble the eggs until they are just firm.

Spoon the scrambled eggs over top of the partially baked pizza crust and then top with the thawed, frozen vegetables. Cut the thawed patties of turkey sausage into small, bite sized pieces, and distribute evenly on top of the pizza.

Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and pepper jack cheese on top of everything and bake for about 8 minutes or until the cheese has melted and the crust is a golden brown color.

Slice and serve your healthy breakfast pizza while still hot.

Serves 8.

Vary the pizza recipes you use when making dinners for your family to keep everyone interested. You can also make variations to the pizza dough recipe you use by changing the types of flour as well as using butter instead of oil for coating the dough before baking.
